Charming and characterful, this traditional cottage in Kent is perfect for a romantic getaway for two plus one four-legged companion. With wooden beamed ceilings, chic, country-style decor and a pretty English garden, you’ll be set for a memorable getaway. Spend your days strolling through the High Weald National Landscape, visiting the nearby castles and exploring sleepy countryside villages.

Step inside this single-storey cottage and find yourself in the bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Natural light pours through the windows into this cosy space with a vaulted, beamed ceiling and neutral-toned decor. Stylish furnishings bring together the old and new. A contemporary kitchen sits on one side of the room, with sparkling countertops and modern appliances. Adjacent is a lounge area with a sofa and an armchair. Opposite is a dining table for two. Continue into the comfortable king-size bedroom, with an antique French bed and an en-suite bathroom. Outside is a private cottage garden with furniture. You can also explore the surrounding grounds of the owner’s listed manor house, containing a lake, an orchard and meadows. There is private parking for one car.

During your break in the rural village of Headcorn, you could wander into the centre for a meal at one of the dog-friendly pubs (within 0.5 miles). Set tails wagging on an adventure into the High Weald National Landscape (8 miles) for a walk in Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (15 miles) or around Bewl Water country park (17.5 miles). Step back in time at the picturesque castle ruins of National Trust Scotney Castle (16.5 miles) and medieval Leeds Castle (7 miles).
