This elegant home enjoys a peaceful setting in the rural hamlet of Caldbergh in the Yorkshire Dales. Sleeping eight guests and two pups, the holiday retreat is ideal for nature-loving families and groups of friends. Surrounded by the tranquil landscape of Coverdale, you can take riverside strolls and moorland rambles directly from the property. Nearby woof-welcoming attractions include Jervaulx Abbey and the Wensleydale Railway (both within 6 miles).

The impressive country home boasts an array of original features, including flagstone flooring and beamed ceilings, complemented with antique-style furniture and homely touches. You’ll be welcomed into the main hall with its roaring wood burner and plenty of space to store muddy boots and dog leads. From here, move through to the inviting lounge, which features a second wood burner and comfortable seating arranged around a Smart TV. A couple of steps take you down to the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner with an AGA, large dining table to seat everyone, and all the equipment needed for a self-catering getaway. This spacious room, boasting underfloor heating, is the perfect place to set up the dog beds. From the kitchen/diner, a step leads up to a delightful snug with a Smart TV. Also from the kitchen, down a few steps, is a handy utility room, larder, and pantry. Upstairs, four beautifully styled bedrooms await, one of which has an en-suite shower room (reached via a few steps). Two gorgeous family bathrooms complete the accommodation. Please note, due to the period of the property, some of the rooms have low ceilings and there are several internal steps. Outside, the enclosed, walled garden enjoys far-reaching views across the valley. On a summer’s evening, fire up the BBQ for an al fresco supper on the terrace, whilst the hounds play on the lawn below. Private parking is available for three cars.

The vibrant town of Leyburn is just 5.5 miles away and has a good range of paw-friendly shops and eateries. The town also hosts regular markets where you can pick up delicious local produce, such as the iconic Wensleydale cheese. You’ll also be just 3 miles from Middleham, with its beautiful Georgian architecture and famous links to horseracing. Wonderful stay at Caldbergh House. The location was precisely the get away we were needing with beautiful views and local walking, but within easy reach of shops and pubs / restaurants. The house itself is well appointed and had everything we required and more. Garden was perfect for children and dog (secure and large enough). Would highly recommeRead morend. Hide
