Dine alfresco on the glass-fronted terrace beside the River Teviot in this enchanting countryside lodge. Surrounded by historic and culture-rich Scottish towns, castles and nature walking trails, there’s plenty to keep you busy during your stay. In the evenings, you and up to six other guests and two canine companions can enjoy relaxing in the bright, open-plan living space with a vaulted ceiling.
Enter the lodge to find yourself in an airy, spacious open-plan lounge/diner with an eclectic mix of colours and styles throughout the decor. The centre of attention is the floor-to-ceiling wooden panelled glass windows and doors leading onto the patio. Chandeliers hang from the vaulted, beamed ceiling and a rug sits on the carpeted floor. On one side of the room is a chic dining table with six chairs. Opposite is a cosy lounge area with sofas surrounding a wood burner-effect electric fire and Smart TV. Continue into the pretty galley-style kitchen with neutral tones and farmhouse-style units with wooden countertops. Completing the ground floor is a shower room and three bedrooms – a double, twin and a single room. Climb the stairs to reach a king-size master bedroom with countryside views and an en-suite. Outside, there is a riverside enclosed balcony with furniture and an enclosed garden with a lawn. There is private parking for three cars.
While staying near the small village of Eckford, you’ll be just 5 miles from the market town of Kelso – where you can wander around the abbey and dine at a dog-friendly pub. Sniff out one of the nearby castles, like the 18th-century Floors Castle (7 miles) or the hilltop Fatlips Castle (10.5 miles). You could also head over the Scottish Border for a day in Northumberland National Park (17 miles).
