The vibrant coastal town of Dunbar (10.5 miles) makes a great doggy day out, with a fantastic range of woof-welcoming shops and places to eat. The town is packed with historic buildings, including John Muir’s Birthplace, which welcomes four-pawed visitors, and the ruins of Dunbar Castle. There are some fabulous, paw-friendly beaches near Dunbar, including Belhaven Bay and Thorntonloch Beach. Further afield, head inland to explore the remote walking trails through the Lammermuir Hills (25 miles), or journey to the mystical tidal island of Lindisfarne (just over 30 miles).
