Pups get their own welcome pack at this characterful cottage, plus the promise of a paw-warming wood burner and waggy-tailed walks in the surrounding Cumbrian countryside. Within 7 miles of both Ambleside and Kendal, the two-bedroomed property is well-positioned to deliver an authentic taste of Lake District life.
Park then pause to admire the setting – this traditionally styled cottage sits amid a verdant landscape above the rural village of Ings. Leave dog leads and outdoor gear in the covered porch, then step into an open-plan lounge/diner where exposed beams, a wood burner and sofas arranged before a Smart TV all set the scene for companionable downtime with friends or family and your four-pawed pals. Adjacent, the kitchen houses all the must-haves of home and has a second dining suite. As sleep-time approaches, settle the pups in their beds, then follow the cottage-style staircase up to the first floor, where there’s a family bathroom and two beamed bedrooms, a king-size and a twin. The small enclosed garden to the front of the cottage makes the perfect spot to enjoy the surrounding scenery while the pups sniff out its seasonal planting.
Private parking makes unloading and exploring your surroundings stress-free – around 500 metres away, the local inn has a ready supply of fresh water and biscuits to welcome your pets. Drive 2.5 miles west, and dogs can travel on many of Windermere’s lake cruises, self-drive and rowing boats, while both Ambleside (7 miles) and Bowness (4.5 miles) have a fine choice of pet-friendly inns and eateries. Head 6.5 miles in the opposite direction and Kendal –synonymous with its energy-boosting mint cake – has castle ruins that make for a great dog walk, with views stretching across the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
