Property code: OC-86012

Occupying a quiet location in the coastal village of St Mary’s Bay on the Kent coast, this beautifully presented home is perfect for families and their four-legged friends. With rural views to the rear, yet less than 0.5 miles to the beach, you and your dogs really do have the best of coast and country to explore. Situated at the far end of peaceful Romney Marsh, this property allows you to explore the wetland’s rich habitats, interesting history and varied wildlife. After a busy day, head home to curl up in front of the wood burner or enjoy some al fresco dining.

Recently refurbished, this bungalow is bright, airy and deceptively spacious. A blend of contemporary and mid-century furniture works with pops of colour to create a warm and characterful home. Leave your coats and shoes in the hall before heading into the sunny lounge, with a wood burner for cooler evenings. At the rear, you’ll find the kitchen/diner which has ample seating; from here, throw open the bi-fold doors and let the outside in. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite) complete the accommodation. Outside, dogs can stretch their legs on the lawn, whilst the dining spot offers beautiful rural views.

St Mary’s Bay is a quiet village with a few shops and eateries; it also has a long stretch of sandy beach which reaches from Dymchurch (2 miles) to Littlestone-on-Sea (3.5 miles), so your canine companions can enjoy long strolls with the sand beneath their paws. Littlestone is home to the world’s smallest public railway, which passes within 200 metres of the property. Alternatively, you can explore the otherworldly setting of the Dungeness headland (9.5 miles) and National Nature Reserve, or the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and towns such as Hythe and Folkestone (11.5 miles).

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and 1 en-suite shower room with shower and WC
  • Electric double oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher

  • Smart TV in the lounge and Bluetooth speaker in the kitchen
  • Garden with patio table and chairs and a charcoal BBQ
  • Private parking for 2 cars
  • Beach, shop and pub within 200 metres

Platt Cottage is in a great location off the main road with views overlooking fields and the South Downs. St Mary's Bay steam engine stop is a few houses away. It is a request stop so you have to stick your hand out for the train to pick you up. The cottage is very well equipped and tastefully furnished and finished. It was well cleaned and mostRead more welcoming. We spent a lot of time in the garden playing games and eating. A short drive down the road you can park then walk to the beach a ten minute walk along the main road. We all had a wonderful week staying at Platt Cottage and the weather was amazing. I have already booked for next year the same property shame the cost has now gone up 15% which sadly at the moment with people struggling this is quite a jump from this year. Hide

We stayed over Christmas 2025 and had the most fantastic time (3 adults, 2 kids and 1 large dog). The cottage was wonderfully clean and the kitchen was the equipped with everything we needed for a full Christmas dinner. The beds are super comfy and bathrooms/showers are brilliant. We took our dog and the garden was very safe, the beach is a 10 minuRead morete walk or 5 minute drive with plenty of parking and lots of space for the dog/kids to run. The owners gave us a beautiful Christmas hamper and there was cleaning/washing up supplies available. There is so much to explore in the local area including steam trains, beaches and woods. We also had a family member with reduced mobility and this cottage was safe and accessible for her. I would whole heartedly recommend this cottage as a great place to stay and we hope to go back again. Hide

The bungalow is well looked after, clean and tidy. Plenty of room for the four of us and a little doggy. The place was just a short walk from the sea. Short distance to food shops and we found Yongs did some great Chinese food. Well situated to explore the area. Nice garden to relax in. We were happy and recommend this place.

Very comfortable with a lovely ambience and.spacious rooms (lounge very comfortable for five adults but six may find it a squeeze). Superb kitchen diner, wonderful outlook from garden straight on to fields and you can hear the steam trains as they pass, we liked that. Very close to sea and countryside.Ample parking and an easy walk to local shops.

A lovely cottage conveniently situated a short walk from the sandy beach. The garden is dog friendly providing you ensure the front gates are closed! The sitting room and fridge are small for 6 but as there were only 4 of us it was fine. A shame that the sitting room doesnt benefit from the lovely views over the field at the back we will return.
