Soak up the atmosphere at this charming stone cottage in one of the Peak District’s most unique and characterful villages. Welcoming four guests and two happy hounds, this two-bedroom holiday home boasts boutique-style interiors and a lovely patio garden with village and country views. After days roaming fells and exploring market towns, it offers the perfect base to rest and recharge.

Beneath its traditional stone exterior, this two-storey cottage has been lovingly refurbished to blend original features with bold contemporary styling. Socialise and snooze with your pack in the chic lounge where relaxing colours, thoughtfully chosen prints, stylish sofas and a warming wood burner create a welcoming and relaxing ambiance. When tummies rumble, the stylish kitchen/diner has all the essentials for feeding hungry humans and hounds alike plus a contemporary dining table and plenty of space for food and drink bowls. Winding, cottage-style stairs lead up to the first floor where you’ll find a flexible super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom with bold styling, wood panelling and village views, alongside a cosy double room. They share use of an industrial-style bathroom with a walk-in shower and deep, freestanding bathtub – perfect for a long soak after days on the fells. Make the most of warm weather, dining alfresco in the enclosed patio garden, gazing across the rooftops to the hills beyond. There’s allocated parking for one car with additional on-street parking subject to availability.

History-loving hounds will enjoy morning walkies around Winster’s conservation streets, home to around 70 listed buildings including the 17th-century Market House. Multiple walking and cycling routes lead from the village to the surrounding countryside, characterised by limestone cliffs and drystone walls, typical of the White Peak region. The market towns of Matlock, Matlock Bath and Bakewell (within 6.5 miles) offer independent shops and eateries, riverside strolls and lots of lovely local produce. Chatsworth House (9 miles) welcomes well-behaved dogs in the gardens and parkland.

Lovely cottage in a very quiet village. Small welcome pack was appreciated. The locals we met were very friendly and the community shop was well stocked and with excellent service.
