Sleeping up to 12 guests, this grand period house is a brilliant choice for big family gatherings and trips away with friends and their four-legged companions. The pet-friendly retreat sits on the edge of the pretty village of Saint Michaels and is bursting with character, complete with a hot tub and cracking wood burners that heat-seeking hounds are sure to adore.

This Edwardian Arts and Crafts home has been styled to suit its character, with rich wallpapers, handsome wooden furniture and colourful soft furnishings. You're greeted by a cosy hallway with a crackling wood burner – a welcome sight after muddy walks with your loyal hound. The ground floor opens into a large lounge with a bay window, plenty of seating, a Smart TV and a second roaring wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped for catering to a crowd, while the grand dining room is ready for celebratory meals by the glow of a third wood burner. There's also a handy office nook, a second breakfast kitchen for casual bites, plus a utility room for towels, leads, and drying off soggy paws. A twin bedroom with a nearby shower room rounds off this level. Upstairs are four more bedrooms on the first floor and another twin on the second, each with its own en-suite, so everyone has their own private corner. Outside, a fully enclosed rear garden gives both guests and their furry pals a safe place to potter about. Fire up the BBQ for outdoor feasts or sink into the hot tub after long days on forest trails and sandy shores. There’s private parking for up to five cars.

A village inn is close at hand for a post-walk pint, while pups on the lead and people alike will love exploring nearby Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve (5 miles), with its pine woods, wild dunes and wide sand flats. For coastal days out, St Andrews (7.5 miles) brings historic streets, a famous golf course and a long promenade for breezy wanders, while Dundee (6.5 miles) has shops, museums and dog-friendly cafes. Craigtoun Country Park (8.5 miles) adds lakes and woodland trails to get tails wagging.

We loved our time at Pinewood Country House! Great communication with the host, very clean house, lots of nice touches to make our stay perfect. Great location too, would highly recommend!

I had a wonderful family getaway at Pinewood House. The house is beautiful and was spotless, it was well equipped with everything you could need for a wonderful stay. There is plenty of space for large groups and a lovely garden and hot tub to enjoy.
