This fantastic property, situated less than half a mile from a popular dog-friendly pub, provides a simply unforgettable stay for your entire family or group of friends – not forgetting Fido, of course! Sleeping 12 over six stunning bedrooms, this holiday home is an opportunity to escape and get away from busy life while still being in close proximity to superb walks and family activities. Cross the glazed footbridge over to 4 acres of magical woodland gardens, where you’ll find a wooden and stone seating area around a fire pit as well as an outside shower and hot tub for added indulgence.

The property, which was built around the original 17th-century cottage that stood here, has plenty of charming features that make this house so special. Some of the hand-cut beams in the entrance hall originate from local sailing ships of the time, while a beautiful exposed stone fireplace in the lounge makes it a pleasure to curl up in during peaceful evenings. During the day, superb glass doors offer unique views across Coniston Water from the huge slate terrace. Every bedroom has more astonishing views, ensuring you get a tranquil night’s sleep among spectacular natural beauty.

If you can bear to tear yourself away, let the hound take the lead around Brockhole Lake on the shores of Windermere (10 miles) around the shoreline, woodland and meadow. Head into Grasmere and catch a glimpse of William Wordsworth’s home Dove Cottage (12 miles) before going to grab some tasty gingerbread from the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. Enjoy the Lake District scenery from one of the Ullswater ‘Steamers’ (23 miles), where monsters are believed to live under the lake in Arthurian legend! For more powerful water, take a trip to Aira Force (26 miles) which falls 70 feet from below a stone footbridge.
