Let Rover unleash some energy as you stroll together through the magnificent Peak District. This two-bedroom, pet-friendly cottage, which sleeps four guests, offers superb dog walks right from the doorstep. Return to relax at the charming, three-storey hideaway in Stoney Middleton, 5.5 miles from Bakewell. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine together out in the courtyard seating area.

Make your way inside from the parking area to find yourselves on the lower-ground-floor level. Here, the lovely kitchen/diner features painted stonework and a range-style cooker fitted into an inglenook fireplace. There is ample space for Rover to mill about while you rustle up his dinner and prepare a hearty feast for everyone else. Choose whether to sit at the table or perch at the breakfast bar. Follow Rover’s wagging tail up the stairs to the first floor, where the lovely lounge is positioned. This airy space is ideal for evening relaxation in front of the Smart TV. Let Rover doze in front of the flame-effect electric fire, set into a stone chimney breast, while you make yourselves comfortable on the plump sofa. There is also a family shower room on this level, while the family bathroom is on the floor above. Your two bedrooms are also on the second floor of the cottage. These comprise a king-size and a twin, with zip-and-link beds that can also be arranged as a king-size if discussed in advance. Take Rover out into the courtyard with you on fine days and listen to the sound of the babbling brook over afternoon tea. There is parking for one car.

Froggatt Edge, 2 miles away, with its impressive Peak District views, is a popular place for dog walks. Explore the extensive parkland and gardens at Chatsworth House, 5 miles away, where Rover is also welcome in the outside areas.

Well appointed and clean. Very warm and plenty of hot water. Not an ideal place for a dog as no outside space, and we had to take her on a lead out on to the main road to find a grass verge just before bed every night. Be aware the main road is BUSY and noisy. If you dont need to sleep with windows open then it is manageable. Very steep drive whiRead morech is quite tricky to turn out off at the busiest times of day. It is very convenient for access to all main walking areas in the peaks and for Sheffield. Interesting history. Hide

We had a fabulous time staying at babbling Brook cottage in Stoney Middleton. The cottage was spotlessly Clean, lovely and warm and very well equipped. Stoney Middleton was a perfect location for us with access to an abundance of fabulous walks from nearby villages.

On the whole a lovely cottage. Decorated and furnished well, with the exception of the beds. Mattresses desperately need replacing. Once that is done, then there would be no further problems with this cottage. The cottage is ideally placed for walking in the Peaks, with plenty of walks close by, and not too far to drive to others. It is on a main rRead moreoad, which is VERY, VERY busy. While there is nothing the owners can do about this, just be aware that, if, like us you like to sleep with the bedroom window open, it is nigh on impossible because of the noise, especially from the wagons that come through. Also, you will need to take your own cleaning equipment. We had 1 cloth, the tiniest amount of washing up liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets and 1 bin liner. Most holiday homes provide more. If you're aware this one doesn't, then you can come prepared. One last thing. If you book for Christmas and want it decorated, there are minimal decorations, and you will need to buy your own lights for the tree. Again, if we'd been aware, we would have come prepared. I would recommend this property if I knew the mattresses had been replaced. Reply from Holiday Cottages: Thank you for your feedback. The owners apologise for the lack of cleaning materials, which was an oversight. This is an established property and the new owners appreciate your comments as they make improvements to ensure a better experience for future guests. Hide
