Embrace rural living at this charming holiday home set on a working farm in East Yorkshire. This cosy cottage – a lovely hideaway for a couple or a small family – sits just outside the village of Dunnington, 5 miles from the coast and surrounded by space for strolls with your faithful hound.

Inside, the cottage is warm and welcoming, with wooden furniture and a soothing colour palette throughout. Shake off mud and leave coats in the hallway before stepping into the spacious lounge/kitchen/diner. This bright open-plan room has handsome wooden floors and patio doors that lead straight out to the veranda – handy for letting a waggy-tailed wanderer potter in and out. The country-style kitchen provides everything you need to cook hearty meals with local ingredients, best enjoyed at the table by the window. Afterwards, curl up on one of the sofas to watch a favourite show on the Smart TV. Head upstairs to find two peaceful bedrooms – an attractive double and a snug twin that can be set up as a super-king on request. The family bathroom completes the first floor, where sloping ceilings add character, though some areas have restricted head height. Outside, relax in the sunshine on the enclosed decked veranda – a lovely setting for a glass of wine while your furry friend dozes nearby. Fire up the BBQ for lazy summer dinners and enjoy being on a working farm where guests can say hello to the resident horses and Hebridean sheep. Private parking is provided for two cars.

The historic market town of Beverley (15 miles) is within easy reach and is known for its elegant Georgian streets and magnificent Gothic minster. Spend a day browsing independent shops before settling into a pet-positive pub for dinner. Walkers and their four-legged companions will be spoilt for choice, with the Yorkshire Wolds Way close by and fantastic walking spots such as Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head within 20 miles. For seaside fun, travel to Hornsea (6.5 miles) for its dog-friendly zones and promenade, or visit Fraisthorpe (8.5 miles) and Mappleton (9 miles) for more shoreline adventures with your canine chum.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the open plan layout of the downstairs was perfect for us. The covered seating area outside was a bonus for early morning coffee drinking. The property was very clean and superbly equipped; the welcome home made cake and bread a real treat. Best welcome hamper weve ever had. Being able to see the young foals and walkRead more around the farm was a wonderful experience for us. Finally, we would add that Charlotte was wonderful. Despite being very busy she always made time for us and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely book again. Hide

We had the most amazing time at this stunning cottage. It's a real home from home, has everything you could possibly need and lots of thoughtful extras like a welcome pack, doggy welcome box, homemade break and cake. Lovely rural location with friendly and helpful owner on site at the farm. Cottage is newly furnished and very well equipped and an amazing welcome pack too. Post code and sat nav directs you well, the cottage is through the gate next to the defibrillator (and key box).
