This elegant country retreat is on the outskirts of the market town of Haslemere, between the South Downs and the Surrey Hills. The vast property welcomes ten guests and one furry companion, and is the ideal base for a memorable family gathering or a special getaway with friends. Enjoy long countryside dog walks, followed by a dip in the swimming pool or a cosy movie night beside the open fire.
The large family home is full of character, with beautiful arched windows, high ceilings and a fabulous collection of antique-style furniture. After a long hike, leave muddy boots and dog leads in the entrance hallway, before moving through to one of two lounges. The first is a cosy snug with comfortable seating arranged around an open fire and a Smart TV, and the second is a vast space with sumptuous sofas, window seats overlooking the garden, and another roaring open fire – creating the perfect dozing spot for the pup. There’s also a piano for musical members of the party. At the heart of the home is an impressive kitchen/breakfast room with everything needed to cater for a large group, along with a breakfast bar and a cute dining area with bench-style seating. For formal get-togethers, you’ll have a stunning dining room with a bay window and a banquet-style dining table to seat everyone. Four luxurious bedrooms are located on the first floor, three of which have en-suite facilities, and there’s also a contemporary family bathroom on this level. Nestled in the eaves on the second floor are two single bedrooms and a cosy children’s reading nook (please note, these rooms have restricted head height in some areas). Outside, the garden is a paradise for four-pawed visitors, with a huge lawn to charge around on and wooded areas to sniff and explore. For the humans, there’s a sunny patio area for al fresco dining, and you’ll also have access to an outdoor heated swimming pool (May-September), tennis court, mini golf, and table tennis. Private parking is available for six cars.
Haslemere (2 miles) is an attractive market town with timber-framed properties and a great selection of cute boutiques and galleries to potter around. The town also has some lovely paw-friendly pubs and restaurants. There are some great nearby walks to explore with your furry friends, including the National Trust’s Devil’s Punchbowl and Black Down, or the long-distance Greensand Way, which starts in the town. Alternatively, spend a relaxing afternoon at one of the paw-friendly vineyards dotted throughout the surrounding countryside.
