Set within the Holkham Estate on the stunning North Norfolk coast, this sprawling farmhouse makes a great base for families and friends seeking big skies, bracing walks and country-house charm. Welcoming eight guests and three contented canines, its location between Holkham’s sweeping beach and verdant deer park means it’s well placed for walkies before relaxed evenings by the wood burner.

Put your best paw forward as you step into this welcoming two-storey farmhouse. With an inviting main lounge and a cosy snug, there’s ample room to unwind, whether you want to gather together or spread out and enjoy a little peace and quiet. Both rooms features warming wood burners to keep toes and paws toasty. When tummies rumble, head to the contemporary kitchen where a double range oven and American-style fridge-freezer make light work of preparing meals for a crowd. This flows into a sociable dining area, while a practical utility area and boot room makes it easy to keep on top of muddy paws and sandy towels. A ground floor bedroom with a super-king-size zip-and-link bed next to a shower room offers flexible accommodation for those with mobility issues. Upstairs, there are three further bedrooms, another super-king-size zip-and-link along with a king-size and a twin, plus the family bathroom. A large gravel area at the front provides parking for several cars and a gate leads to an enclosed lawned area bordered by fruit trees, a lovely spot for a morning cuppa or evening drink while your pups potter nearby.

Cross the road and stroll around 0.5 miles along Lady Anne’s Drive to reach the vast sands and dunes of Holkham Beach, perfect for windswept walks, games of fetch and birdwatching. The same distance in the other direction takes you to the gates of Holkham Park, where dogs on leads can accompany you around the landscaped parkland and watch the resident deer. Head to Wells-next-the-Sea (1.5 miles) for harbour strolls and delicious fish and chips.

We enjoyed our stay. The farmhouse is in a very good position to visit all that Holkham has to offer Re and the surrounding area. It is a good base for a multi-generational family break
