Rest and recharge on a relaxing holiday in this fabulous farmhouse, in the quiet north-west corner of the Lake District National Park. The spacious property accommodates 12 guests and two hairy sidekicks, making it ideal for large family get-togethers and holidays with friends. The surrounding area is idyllic and awash with interesting dog walks, around lakes and over fells. You’ll also be less than 20 miles from the sandy beaches of the Cumbrian coast. With two living areas and a games room, the farmhouse has ample socialising space and there’s also a beautiful, enclosed garden, where the woofers and children can play.

The property is full of character, with exposed beams and stonework throughout. Simple decor and furniture complement the traditional style of the farmhouse. After a day outdoors, relax in the lounge or snug, with the hounds stretched out by the wood burner, or follow the steps down to the games room to challenge your fellow guests to a game of pool or darts. Alternatively, grab your favourite book and retreat to the magnificent second-floor bathroom to soak in the fabulous free-standing bath. Outside, discover an immaculate garden that has been laid to lawn and two patios. There is also a stream, so always supervise children and the pups.

Enjoy peace and tranquillity on a trip to Loweswater Lake (9 miles). This stunning lake is surrounded by woodland, and your canine buddies will be in their element sniffing their way along the weaving track to Holme Force Waterfall. After a relaxing walk, tuck into a hearty meal at the traditional inn in the hamlet of Loweswater. At St Bees (17 miles), on the coast, you’ll find a long, sandy beach that welcomes four-pawed visitors all year. St Bees Head is also the start of the Coast-to-Coast Walk.

7 of us stayed in the cottage and we had a great time but it could do with a bit more maintenance. Pros: Plenty of space in the cottage, bedrooms and grounds Location was quiet but handy for things to do in the area Pool table and dart board, plus lots of TVs! No welcome pack/details for things to do in the area Hide

Large comfortable home suitable for family gatherings. Lots of space and areas in house to spread out. Comfortable beds but bedrooms could do with some updating.

Great location, remote and quiet. House is in need of some work and replacement of certain items. Overall nice stay but wouldnt return unless it had been updated and deep cleaned.

We had a lovely holiday at Birkbank farm. The location was perfect for us, especially with Keswick being so nearby. The drive to Windermere only being an hour was a huge benefit as well. The only thing we could comment on was that the darts were all broken, which was quite disappointing. Perhaps some investments into smaller things, such as darts, Read morecould help with the more chilled days. Perhaps also investing in a stronger WiFi also, as we had almost no connection the whole week we were here. Hide
