  • Close to the bustling market town of Keswick and the Solway Coast
Property code: OC-28377

This beautiful property, situated just 4 miles from the historic market town of Keswick, is perfect for your entire family – including up to two four-legged members! Sleeping four across two warm bedrooms with plenty of space for the pups to snooze, it won’t be long before you’re all up and ready to explore the beautiful countryside just outside your door. Stroll around the Lingholm Kitchen and Walled Garden (4 miles), the inspiration behind Mr McGregor’s garden in Peter Rabbit, before returning home to enjoy an al fresco drink in the shared gardens looking out at the spectacular views of Skiddaw.

The cottage, which is one of a complex of four properties, has the ideal mix of traditional and contemporary styling. The kitchen diner is bright with plenty of space to rustle up a hearty breakfast to prepare for the day ahead, while exposed beams and comfy sofas in the lounge invite you to sink back in front of the stone fireplace with gas fire, the pups snuggled up at your feet. Further into the cottage, the bedrooms are light but peaceful; wake up among soft, pretty decor and take in the morning with a coffee in the enclosed garden.

After you’ve had your complimentary drink and browsed the onsite gallery, it’s time to head out. Keswick has plenty to do, including the Derwent Pencil Museum (3.5 miles) and the market that dates back to 1276. Sniff out clues along the 2-mile Keswick Spy Mission Treasure Trail that starts in the market square and get the kids thinking. Derwentwater (4 miles) is often called one of the most visually impressive natural wonders in the region and is perfect for dogs, and the Ullswater Steamers (20 miles) give the entire family a unique opportunity to explore the lake and wildlife in the area.

The location of the cottage is superb. Sadly, the cleanliness was disappointing however this did not spoil our holiday. The living room is the best area in the cottage, very spacious with amazing views. We would stay again providing it was given some TLC!

Please accept my apologies but both myself and my adult son, both felt that the photographs of the cottage were taken to over emphasize the size of the property. Although the lounge area was very spacious, the remainder of the property was dark, and the rooms were not as large as that which appeared in the photographs.

The location is superb, although the area was very busy during school holidays Cleanliness was poor throughout, although the bedding smelt fresh Almost every door was sticking and needed excess force to open/close The kitchen took me back to my student days where we had to scrub pans/utensils before use The cottage appears to have been refurbished Read moreonce and had no maintenance/renewal since The unsealed adjoining door allowed the neighbour's foul language to permeate through to ours We left early Hide

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Very spacious inside however remains cosy. Very well equipped throughout and has the lovely touch of a small selection of games which our 3 yr old loved. Nice enclosed garden shared with the other cottages looking onto the beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant modern cottage, with a secure garden for dogs or small children. Excellent view of Skiddaw from the cottage and we usually had our breakfast using the wide windowsill as our table. Conveniently located just outside Keswick beside Bassenthwaite Lake Rowan Cottage is a short trip to Winlatter Forestry England - a must visit.
