This traditional cottage is in the unspoilt village of Uldale, on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. The romantic bolthole, which welcomes two guests and one dog, is a fantastic base for walkers, with the Uldale Fells on your doorstep and Skiddaw, Catbells, and Blencathra all within 20 miles. For shopping and eating out, the vibrant market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth are both 11 miles away.
The single-storey stone cottage boasts an array of original features, which sit alongside rustic wooden furniture and a collection of homely accessories. The traditional kitchen provides everything needed to whip up delicious dinners for two, as well as offering direct access to the garden, making it a perfect spot for the dog bed. From the kitchen, an elegant archway leads through to the inviting lounge/diner. Here, you can share romantic meals at the table under the window, before snuggling up on the sofa to watch a movie on the Smart TV. In winter, fire up the wood burner to create a warm dozing spot for the pup. When day turns to night, sink into the bespoke double bed in the cosy bedroom. A contemporary shower room rounds off the accommodation. Outside, the pretty English garden boasts a large, enclosed lawn, a cute patio area for al fresco dining, and a delightful summerhouse. Private parking is available for one car.
There are some lovely walking routes around the nearby village of Ireby (1.5 miles), including trails through Dodd Wood and to the picturesque tarn of Overwater. After a long hike, refuel in the friendly village pub. Further afield, Bassenthwaite Lake is a must, with its scenic waterside paths, idyllic picnic spots, and opportunities for wild swimming. Adjacent to the lake is Whinlatter Forest Park – a great choice for your dog on a hot day.
