Go mutts and bring your furry bestie for an unforgettable break in this welcoming stone barn. With room for four humans and a canine companion, it’s a soothing country escape with incredible views and easy access to exciting walks on the North York Moors.

Enter this comfortable getaway and lead your pup three steps down into the open-plan living space, where you’ll immediately be drawn to the beautiful views across the village to the valley beyond. Kick off your shoes and enjoy the toasty feeling of underfloor heating. For the ultimate in relaxation, soft seating is comfortably gathered around a wood burner, making this a real year-round destination. Switch on the Smart TV, and you have the perfect setting for a cosy evening at home with your four-pawed pal. In one corner, the kitchen provides everything required for easy holiday cooking, including a microwave and a dishwasher, and the adjacent dining table is ideal for meals, games or listening to music on the Bluetooth speaker. Also on this level is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, while the first floor is home to a king-size bedroom, also with an en-suite, as well as a small reading nook/play space. Outside, the raised patio makes an ideal spot for morning coffee accompanied by birdsong and evenings beside the chimenea, with stunning rural views. Tandem parking for two cars completes this peaceful retreat.

Explore the stunning scenery of the moors from your front door, perhaps following part of the long-distance Esk Valley Walk. If you feel like a change of scene, the coast is easily accessible – try Whitby, 15 miles away, where furry friends can run on the beach, accompany you on a ghost walk and even head out on a boat trip.

We had a wonderful stay at Parlour Cottage. It has been renovated to a high standard. The beds were comfortable and the showers were excellent. Lovely views across the valley with fields of sheep and rabbits. Peace and quiet. Such a pleasant surprise to find a coffee machine in the property even though it was not listed. The Eskdale was lovely...Read morea great gin selection and just 2 mins walk down the drive. Plenty of walks from the door. We highly recommend this cottage. Hide

This is maybe the nicest property we have ever had a holiday in. The location is great, with views over the valley to the village of Castleton; the railway station is about two hundred yards away, for the line along the Esk valley to Whitby (or Middlesborough if you want to go there); everything in the property was of a first class standard, from Read morethe kitchen utensils and cookware to the bedding to the bathroom facilities. The patio has a lovely prospect over the valley, and blankets are provided in case it is a bit chilly. The little snug gives an extra room for anyone wanting some peace and quiet on their own, and there is a TV in the living area and each bedroom. Top class. We had the privilege of being the first people in after the fitting out of the property: one snag cropped up while we were there (which was no fault of the owners, who live more-or-less next door and who are very nice) but this was dealt with quietly and efficiently. Very much to be recommended. Hide
