Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, this spacious rural haven in pretty Horton-in-Ribblesdale is a dream escape for special occasions, big family gatherings and memorable getaways – complete with room for every wagging tail in the pack.
Step inside the welcoming entrance hall and shake off muddy paws and walking boots before heading into the generous, contemporary kitchen. To one side is a handy utility room, ideal for cleaning up after countryside escapades with your four-pawed explorer. To the other is a dining room with rustic stone walls and a roaring wood burner, creating a warm, homely setting. The cosy lounge and elegant drawing room both boast exposed beams, snug furnishings and glowing wood burners. The snug, with its calming tones and feature stone fireplace, is a lovely, quiet nook to curl up with your furry friend. Upstairs are five bedrooms, all with the same warmth and comfort as the living spaces. Choose between two king-size rooms, two twin zip-and-links (convertible to super-king-size), and a spacious family room with a king-size bed and extra day bed – each with its own en-suite. A characterful twin room with sloping ceilings is accessed by stairs from the family bedroom and shares its en-suite. The external annexe retains its original charm and offers a private retreat for two extra guests. It includes a lounge with a Smart TV, kitchenette, shower room and a lovely king-size bedroom tucked beneath beamed ceilings. Outside, the enclosed garden takes advantage of the sweeping views of Pen-y-Ghent. There’s a lawn for children and four-legged friends to frolic on, plus a patio perfect for al fresco dining. Visit the games barn for friendly competition or help yourself to veggies from the kitchen garden. There’s also private parking for eight cars.
Join the Pennine Way right from the village, or roam with your faithful mutt towards Moughton Scar, Crummackdale and Austwick. Further afield, the lively village of Ingleton (11.5 miles) boasts independent shops, tempting cafes and dog-friendly pubs, plus the famous waterfall trail and the White Scar Caves. For a scenic adventure, hop aboard the Settle–Carlisle Railway (7 miles) – pets travel for free – and take in the views as the train glides over the Ribblehead Viaduct.
