Brimming with history and period charm, this Grade II-listed farmhouse is a true rural idyll. With its characteristic exposed beams and brickwork, original windows and a beautiful walled garden complete with hot tub, this property ticks all the boxes for two and four-legged guests alike. Set in a peaceful village surrounded by stunning Sussex countryside, a myriad of wonderful dog walks lies on the doorstep while popular Rye is just 6 miles away.

Inside, a sunny kitchen/diner is full of farmhouse charm with bespoke units, a Belfast sink and AGA. Dine at the kitchen table with its church pew seating or step through into the formal dining room, which seats 12 beside a large inglenook fireplace. After a long dog walk in the countryside, hunker down beside the fire in the formal lounge or watch a film in the cosy snug (which can also be used as a downstairs bedroom with a sofa bed) while your four-legged friend dries off in the handy boot room. Outside the property is just as charming, with three beautiful gardens to explore. Dine alfresco in the secret walled garden, enjoy a long soak in the hot tub or challenge fellow guests to a game of hide and seek while your four-legged friends play happily on the lawn.

Set within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a myriad of scenic dog walks surrounds this unique property. The village of Icklesham is home to cosy pubs, a quirky windmill and the 1066 walk leading to nearby Pevensey and Rye. The ancient town of Winchelsea is just 3 miles away, with its farm kitchen, pubs and pretty shingle beach, which includes a dog exercise area. This is a lovely, old property in a quiet location. We made good use of the hot tub for 2 days until the water level went down and had a visit from the gardener who discovered an internal pipe had broken, so unable to use for the rest of our stay, but made good use of the BBQ and the garden area which is on both sides of the house. Cleanliness wasRead more, sadly, not of the standard we expected. Easy access to footpaths for walking dogs and a short drive to the local beach. Would happily recommend to a party with young children. Hide

This is a lovely, old property in a quiet location. However, if you are very people you could find some of the low beams upstairs a problem. We made good use of the hot tub, the BBQ and the garden area which is on both sides of the house. You can go on several walks across fields straight from the front door. We walked to Charles Palmer vineyardsRead more for a wine and cheese experience. You can walk to The Two Sawyers Pub for lunch and then walk home again. Easy to drive to Winchelsea, Rye or Hastings. A cosy, comfortable and well equipped place to stay, including well used wine fridge! Great garden, location and hot tub. Cleanliness was, sadly, not of the standard we've come to expect, particularly the bathrooms. (Unfortunately microwave and bbq were as stated in a previous review). Was unable to contact owners before and during stay. ComfortablRead moree beds, large spacious living room and nice dining area. Would happily recommend if things taken into consideration. Hide

This cottage was absolutely fabulous! It was nice and warm when you first walked in and the welcome basket was greatly appreciated. We ate our meals outside and admired the amazing views to include awesome sunsets. Relaxing in the hot tub looking up at the stars was incredible!

As above. Microwave and outside of Aga dirty when we arrived. We also had to scub bbq grill before even consider using. We loved the peace and quiet. Lovely things left by the owners on arrival. Garden was lovely and other facilities great. You just want everything perfect for the family on arrival

We spent a week over Christmas at Scrag oak for a big family Christmas. It is a beautiful property and a fantastic location, and wonderfully decorated. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook Christmas lunch with both an aga and fan oven. The property was warm and cosy, and lots of memories made.

Quaint cottage in a lovely, peaceful location a short drive from Hastings and Rye. The cottage has a lovely garden with a great hot tub and BBQ, and is very well equipped inside as well. We could walk to three pubs, loved visiting Rye, and are already planning our return.
