Located on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight within the village of Niton Undercliff, this property is ideal for a family coastal retreat. Just a short walk away is the small cove of Castlehaven and St Catherine’s lighthouse. The small sandy beach resort of Ventnor is also nearby with an array of eateries and a popular homemade ice cream shop, as is Bonchurch which is one of the islands oldest and most picturesque villages. The area is a haven for walkers, with one of the most dramatic parts of the coastal path stretching from here to The Needles, and then onto the bays of Totland and Colwell. Steephill Cove is also a beautiful hidden gem with seasonal beach cafes and is not to be missed.

The house is approached by a long driveway, with the wing having its own private entrance to ensure a peaceful stay. Relax in the charming living room, which has been sympathetically decorated like the rest of the property. It has a Smart TV for you to watch all your favourite programmes and a gorgeous feature fireplace making it the ideal room to unwind in after a busy day. The kitchen/diner is equipped with all you need to cook up a storm with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and coffee machine. On the ground floor, there is a WC. Upstairs you’ll find two spacious bedrooms, one double and one twin, plus a bathroom with a shower over bath and a WC.

Beside the cottage you can sit in the quaint walled courtyard, complete with garden furniture and a BBQ, so you can enjoy dining alfresco or read a good book with a refreshing drink. The shared grounds have many secluded areas for guests to enjoy and a patch of space for children to run around and play games. Please note that there are two ponds in the gardens, so children need close supervision. Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Meeting the owner, Mrs Breaks, who appeared a nice personable lady, we can better understand the concerns of maintaining her large 200 year property. A comfortable bed, hot water and heating gave us a better feel. But it does need some thought about updating in several areas. Having a north east facing unit, it misses the sun. But has an outside coRead moreurtyard. It has a rural position, close to a lovely pub, The Buddle Inn. Small village of Niton just down the road with shops and another pub. Hide

The property requires updating. The shower was unusable, alternating between very hot and cold. Kitchen equipment is poor and there is musty/damp smell in the kitchen cupboards, necessitating all equipment to be washed and stored on the worktop during our stay. Could do with a deep clean. Seating in lounge uncomfortable. We could imagine that perhaRead moreps in the past it was a lovely property but sadly now past its best and very shabby. All these issues have been reported in reviews back in 2023. Hide

We had a wonderful time at Puckaster- its a beautiful and unique property which feels spacious and exciting, but cozy to stay in. We loved exploring the garden!

We have stayed in the Wing at Puckaster House four times and have always enjoyed our stay, including this year. It has such character. The only negatives are the two sofas are extremely uncomfortable and the cooking equipment has seen better days.

Beautiful location but we will not return...beware unpleasant and strong boiler/oil fumes from owner's connecting side of the property. Owner let herself into our side twice while we were out to clear fumes and replace unusable saucepans with new aluminium. Notice would have been appreciated. Slippery and broken stone steps in the garden and down tRead moreo the front door. Very poor sound insulation, could hear owners phone/conversations. Lovely cottage in a beautiful and secluded setting with views from the large garden down to the sea. Probably not suitable for people with mobility issues as there are lots of steps in the house.

The second time we have stayed at Puckaster. Location is wonderful, so peaceful and ideal for exploring different parts of the Island. Cottage is very spacious and comfortable, we received a warm welcome from the owner. We hope to return again!

A lovely setting, ideally placed for reaching beaches, etc. Lovely gardens with lots of space. Little pebbly cove within walking distance & beach hut cafe. Kitchen may benefit from some updated equipment, but other than that there's everything you need. Beds are very comfortable. An outside walled private terrace, with planting, is great space for Read moreeating outside in warm weather. One other self-catering property on site neighbouring this. The owner was very helpful and on site to help if needed. Hide
