Set in the Eskdale Valley, this pretty cottage is full of character, with a stone fireplace, window seats and exposed beams. An ideal base for exploring the south-west of the Lake District, this relaxing hideaway is perfect for keen walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and their pet dogs, with miles of spellbinding walks to enjoy from the doorstep.
Entering this traditional cottage, the inviting lounge/diner is a lovely space to unwind and relax in, with exposed ceiling beams, a wood burner in a stone fireplace, a smart TV and plenty of seating including a charming window seat. With wooden beams and stone flooring, the fully equipped kitchen is ideal for cooking all your favourite family dishes. There’s a bathroom halfway up the stairs, with the bedrooms on the first floor. Here you can choose between two cosy double rooms with exposed beams – one with a low sloping ceiling – and an airy single, all with far-reaching views. Outside, the large garden has plenty of space for dogs to play as you enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening and take in the stunning Lakeland surroundings.
The village of Boot is just a mile away, with a choice of dog-friendly places to eat and drink. From Dalegarth (1 mile) you can take the pet-welcoming Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway to the coast where there are plenty of sandy beaches where dogs can roam. Other local attractions which will welcome your four-legged friend include Muncaster Castle (7.5 miles) and Hardknott Roman Fort (2.5 miles), or you can head a little way north to England’s deepest lake, the beautiful Wast Water (9 miles).
