This inviting holiday retreat occupies the ground floor of a farmhouse, in the tiny village of Whitwell on the Isle of Wight. Sleeping six guests across two bedrooms, the pet-friendly apartment makes the ideal base for families looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are several circular walks nearby, and also routes that join the Isle of Wight Coast Path. After a hike with the hounds, refuel in the village pub, the oldest on the island.
The holiday home is on a working farm and boasts far-reaching countryside views. Inside, leave walking boots and dog leads in the hall, before heading through to the lounge/kitchen/diner. This cosy space features rustic stone and woodwork, and has a collection of homely furniture and accessories. Prepare delicious dinners in the kitchen, which you can share around the dining table, before settling down on the sofas to watch TV. When it’s time for bed, choose from a king-size bedroom or a family room. A refreshing bathroom rounds off the accommodation. Outside, the pups can potter around in the enclosed garden whilst you fire up the BBQ or sip a sundowner. On the farm, you’ll find fishing lakes and children’s play areas, and you can also meet the animals. The apartment has private parking for one car, with further spaces available on-site.
Ventnor, 6 miles away, is a vibrant coastal town with paw-friendly shops and eateries. Take a stroll along the esplanade or let the woofers enjoy off-lead adventures at Ventnor Downs. The main beach is a paws-free zone in summer, but just 0.5 miles along the coast is the beautiful Steephill Cove, which welcomes four-pawed beach-goers all year. There are some excellent dog-friendly attractions nearby, including Carisbrooke Castle, Blackgang Chine, and Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary (all within 10 miles).
