This charming cottage sits just outside the rural village of Whitwell, on the Isle of Wight. The holiday home welcomes eight guests and two waggy-tailed companions and has a sociable, open-plan layout and an enclosed garden that’s ideal for the woofers. There are some excellent family attractions nearby, including the paw-friendly Blackgang Chine (4.5 miles), the UK’s oldest amusement park.
The stone cottage is located on a working farm. Inside, a warm welcome awaits in the open-plan lounge/diner, with its exposed brickwork, wooden floors, homely furniture, and ample space for you and the pups to spread out. Enjoy mealtimes at the large dining table, followed by a cosy evening around the TV. The separate kitchen has a farmhouse feel, and is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering getaway. Completing the ground floor is a twin bedroom, a shower room, and a family bathroom. Upstairs, discover the three remaining bedrooms, one of which is a bunk bedroom that’s ideal for children. One of the two king-size bedrooms has an en-suite shower room. Outside, dine alfresco on the enclosed patio whilst Rover and Fido stretch out in the sunshine. You’ll find shared play equipment on site (approx. 200 metres), and guests are also welcome to meet the animals or use the fishing lakes. Private parking is available for two cars.
The surrounding area is a haven for dog walkers, with circular routes from the village of Whitwell and easy access to the Isle of Wight Coast Path. After a long walk, refuel in the friendly village pub (0.5 miles), which is the oldest on the island. A 3.5-mile journey brings you to the seaside town of Ventnor, which has a great selection of paw-friendly eateries. Take a stroll along the esplanade, wander through the botanic gardens, or head to Ventnor Downs for off-lead fun.
