Explore southern Scotland with your paw-some pal when you stay at this elegant townhouse in Kelso. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom, three-storey holiday home sits right at the heart of the market town and benefits from an enclosed garden where your cheerful chum can soak up the Scottish sunshine on summer days. From here, it is just 9.5 miles to the English border and magnificent Northumberland National Park.

Climb four stone steps up to the front door of this retreat, which overflows with sophistication. From the hall, follow your furry friend through to the lounge, where he can rest his weary head on his paws after his busy day. The humans in your party might like to recline on the plump seating and find a good film on the Smart TV. Alternatively, take him through to the immaculate kitchen/diner with you so he can keep you company as you prepare Scottish delicacies for dinner. Set the table in here for your lively holiday meals. There is also a WC downstairs. Settle your canine companion for the night, then head upstairs to your bedrooms, all of which have Smart TVs. On each floor, you will find a super-king-size, with an en-suite shower room and zip-and-link beds that can also be arranged as a twin if discussed in advance, together with a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Dine out on the patio with your faithful friend close by. Take a few steps down to the gravelled area and watch him nose about. Parking is on the street, subject to availability.

Enjoy a 6-mile circular walk from Kelso alongside the River Teviot to the site where Roxburgh Castle once stood. Explore the beautiful gardens and grounds at Mellerstain House, 7 miles away, together. Historic Floors Castle, 1.5 miles away, is also dog friendly.

An excellent house to stay in. Modern, clean and ideally located to walk into Kelso. The fact that all of the bedrooms are en suite is fantastic and everything is there for you. We all had such a great time.

A fabulous centrally located townhouse. Modern with period features, beautiful kitchen, very comfy beds, lots of room, wonderful ensuites - two have baths as well as showers. House was well equipped - only thing missing was wine glasses. We didn't want to leave :-)
