Delight in a dog-friendly stay at this charming brick and flint cottage in Norfolk. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom cottage nestles in the village of East Rudham, with country walks right on the doorstep. Head home afterwards to warm soft fur beside a crackling wood burner or soak up the sunshine together out in the enclosed garden.

Step into the character-laden cottage with your four-pawed pal by your side. Settle in the lounge, which has a white-washed, beamed ceiling and exposed brick chimney breast. Let him stretch out on the rug while you sink back into the sofa. Light the wood burner in here to bring a warming glow to the beautiful space as you find your current box set on the Smart TV. Beyond the lounge is the dining room, where there is additional soft seating plus a table and chairs for human dining. Hounds can amble a little further on to the compact kitchen for their delicious holiday meals. The kitchen, where you can open the door to the back garden on hot days, has been fitted out with everything you need for self-catering. When night falls, climb the stairs to the lovely bedrooms. Your enticing, cottage-style double and twin rooms, with quaint, sloped ceilings, are on the first floor, together with the family bathroom. Unwind under the great Norfolk skies on clear summer nights, while your pup pal explores the raised lawn and patio areas. Parking is on the street, subject to availability.

Before writing this review, I want to acknowledge that the owner did allow us to leave a day early and refunded us for that night on a pro-rata basis. However, the process was not straightforward, was very time consuming and we had to alter our trip entirely because of it. There are two fridges at the property, but only a very small section of one Read morefunctions as a freezer. On arrival, neither fridge was switched on, and one was not working at all. We had brought food with us for a birthday celebration at the beach the following day, including a cake, so this caused significant issues. Overnight, one of the fridges did start working, but it froze everything and ended up ruining most of the food. Cleanliness was also a concern. The cutlery in the drawer was dirty (and there is no dishwasher), and my children found blood-stained tissues in one of the bedrooms. While the bedding appeared clean, the overall condition of the cottage made it difficult for us to relax and feel confident about hygiene. There was also an alarm that kept sounding intermittently. We believe it may be linked to a nearby vent or possibly a generator located outside the property, as it was disruptive throughout our stay. The cottage was extremely hot, with no fans provided and limited airflow due to small windows. The heating also came on automatically during the night, making the temperature unbearable. Another point to note is the large number of extension leads throughout the property, which could pose a safety concern, particularly for families with young children. I dont usually leave negative reviews, but on this occasion I feel its important to share our experience so that others are fully aware and can avoid similar issues. Hide

A compact but comfortable cottage in a very pretty village. The garden is contained which was great for the dog and the Crown Inn was a a very short walk away with really great food.
