This stylish holiday home is in the coastal village of Milford on Sea, 4 miles from the New Forest National Park. Sleeping six guests and two pups, it’s the perfect rural retreat for families and groups of friends seeking a holiday that combines both coast and countryside adventures. Nearby paw-friendly attractions include the beautifully preserved Buckler’s Hard (12.5 miles) and Exbury Gardens (14.5 miles).
The eco-conscious property was built using locally sourced limestone and features cork flooring and solar panels. Inside, the decor is calm and relaxing, and paintings by local artists adorn the walls. Congregate in the spacious kitchen/diner, where you’ll find everything needed to whip up delicious feasts, which you can share at the central island or around the dining table. In summer, open the doors to the garden to let Rover and Fido amble in and out. The adjoining lounge has a sumptuous sofa to sink into and a roaring wood burner for warming toes and paws on chilly nights. Upstairs, three tranquil bedrooms await, one of which has an en-suite shower room. A contemporary family bathroom completes the accommodation. Outside, dine alfresco on the patio whilst your canine chums play on the lawn, and the children explore the summerhouse. In the evenings, toast marshmallows around the fire pit or revive weary legs in the bubbling hot tub. Private parking is available for two cars.
Milford on Sea has a great selection of dog-friendly pubs and cafes, and many of the independent shops also welcome four-legged visitors. There are some stunning clifftop walks to explore, and the village’s 16th-century Hurst Castle proudly welcomes woofers in all areas. Both beaches – Hordle Cliff and Hurst Road – allow waggy-tailed beachgoers all year. In nearby Lymington (5 miles), you and the pups can hop on the ferry to spend the day on the Isle of Wight.
