Round up your pack and head to this gorgeous family-friendly cottage in the heart of the Welsh countryside, just 6 miles from Aberystwyth. It’s perfect for a group of friends or family (plus two trusty canine companions) who want to explore the coast and country on foot or by bike. Your pups will have a ball on the large, enclosed lawn and patio, and love snoozing next to the wood burner-effect electric fire. The charming, converted stable is bright and light with heaps of original character and the upside-down layout takes advantage of its stunning country views. Relax on the comfy sofas in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner while Fido and Frida doze next to the wood burner-effect electric fire. Rustle up a delicious meal in the kitchen, with handmade oak cabinets, and a dining table for enjoying them together. The single room (which can be a twin) is also on the first floor. The attractive king-size bedroom, double bedroom, shower room and cloakroom with a WC are on the ground floor. Outside, is a lovely fenced/hedged garden. There’s a big lawn for kids and canines to run around and a patio for evening drinks and BBQs as well as a shed for storing your bikes.

This rural retreat is outside the small village of Penrhyn-coch with superb walks nearby. Get tails wagging on walkies at Gogerddan Wood (0.5 miles away) where there’s a 1.5-mile circular trail through ancient woodland. Head to Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre (9 miles) to explore the waymarked trails for walkers, runners, and mountain bikers, or have a go on the mountain-biking track. The bustling seaside town of Aberystwyth is 6 miles away with a lovely beach and pier, lots of shops and places to eat out, and walks on the coast to keep the hounds happy.

We really enjoyed our stay at Brynmeurig with the fastastic hosts of Steve and Kathryn. It is a really well equipped, comfortable holiday home. The downstairs bedrooms are confortable and the living accomodation upstairs has everything you need. Being a few miles outside of Aberystwyth is no problem, as it's not too tricky to get to some of the Read moreother great places towards Pumlumon and north of Aber. Hide

If you want to be within walking distance of a pub or shop you wont get it. However, if you want a very nice barn/cottage as either a base for travelling or for a lazy chill-out stay the great property is in a lovely rural area with beautiful views from the upside down design of the building.

Welcome chocs and wine on the table the owners showed us around really made us feel welcome. Very quiet property and the garden was great for the pups. Enclosed garden and a large lawn area the dogs loved it. Would recommend the property for a stay in Wales.

The upside down setup of the cottage means you get great views over the valleys everywhere you look the settees are comfortable as are the beds. And the garden gets the sun all day from 7 am until 7pm when we were there in the third week of May. The garden is completely enclosed and private so we had no concerns about our nosey dog getting into misRead morechief. The location was great with peace and quiet and Kites regularly passing overhead but not too far from the essentials (about 10-12 mins from Aberystwyth) owners were very welcoming and helpful. The weather was outstanding which helps but even without the weather we'd have had a wonderful holiday at Brynmeurig. Hide

Lovely cottage in a very nice part of Wales. The property has everything you might need and was presented in an immaculate condition. The owners are very friendly and live next door. Our dogs were welcomed and the cottage garden is secure and large and has a lovely patio and grassed area. Its a 5 min drive to a local post office and garage with conRead morevenience store that sells everything you might need for a self catering break. If you want to venture further then the usual large supermarkets are in Aberystwyth which is a 15 min drive away. The property has high speed broadband and good mobile phone signal as well. This is our second visit to Brynmeurig and we will defiantly be back again either later this year or next Spring. Hide

Generally excellent cottage run by a chatty and super-helpful couple. Lovely rural location on a ridge with views ; the only disadvantage being that pubs/restaurants are over 15mins drive away. Generous off-road parking and easy loading/unloading. Good-sized and comfortable beds for adults in two of the rooms. The house is generally compact, but weRead morell arranged. Kitchen is well equipped and modern. Had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Hide

Beautiful cottage in amazing scenery. The cottage was immaculately clean with flowers, chocolates and wine on the table for our arrival. The safe, enclosed garden was perfect for our Labrador to explore. There was so much to see and do that we couldn't fit into our stay. We will definitely be returning to finish our exploring.
