Treat your happy hound to a delightful stay in Northumberland when you book a getaway to this charming Warkworth cottage. Sleeping just two guests, the one-bedroom, pet-friendly bolthole overlooks the River Coquet, where you and your dog can stroll together. The exquisite retreat is also just 1 mile from the beautiful beach where your paw-some pal can run free any time of year.

Open the door and let your eager companion step inside ahead of you. Follow furry feet through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to warm up beside the cosy bioethanol stove after bracing walks on crisp autumn and winter days. This beautifully designed space, with its attractive inglenook fireplace and comfortable seating, is the perfect spot for rest and relaxation between your adventures. Dish up dog dinners in the stylish kitchen, then let your contented canine curl up on the rug. Prepare romantic meals for you and your loved one to enjoy at the breakfast bar or table. While away your evenings in front of the Smart TV before making your way up to the first floor, where your double bedroom and a bathroom are located. There is also a dressing room with an extra single pull-out bed if required. Wake up to views out towards the castle. Head downstairs to take your waggy-tailed friend for a pleasant riverside stroll, then return for coffee on the bench at the front of the cottage. There is no outside space with this bolthole, but there are plenty of places close by for dog walks. Parking is on-street, subject to availability.

Head 2 miles into colourful Amble to take a seat on a dog-friendly puffin tour. Plan a day trip to the National Trust’s Cragside, 17 miles away, with its great walks and proximity to the Northumberland National Park.

This cottage is ideal for a single guest as the bed is just a standard double size and is in an ideal location when using public transport. The welcome products were very useful.

Lovely few days in our favourite village. First time at Dovetail tho have stayed in many other cottages there. Dovetail was clean and comfy with everything we needed. It's perfectly located for the river and village amenities with very close parking (free) never an issue . It is very small but ok for us as couple with a dog for short break. Be greaRead moret if bedroom was larger to allow kingsize bed and room to move around more freely. That said we had a fabulous long weekend! Hide

The cottage is situated in a lovely spot close to the River Coquete and the village of Warkworth, clearly the owners of the cottage have spent a great deal of time and money on the standard of decoration and furnishings in the cottage. Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. Being so close to the river meant that could sit on a bench overlooking the river (I loved Ronnie and Joan's bench best) for morning coffee in the sunshine. Having the little bench outside the house itself was great. Also really enjoyed on a windy day curling up on the day bed with the view overlookinRead moreg the castle with a book. We really appreciated the little extra touches that made it fell homely like the welcome basket and coffee machine. I really liked the fact that there were plenty of spare cloths, binbags, refills for soap etc. and spare towels, mats etc. tucked away- whilst it seems a small thing again it made it feel more comfortable and as if you were at home and able to keep it looking lovely during the stay. Location was lovely- having the village, river and beach all so close is something quite unique and a range of other locations in really easy reach as well. Hide
