Toast tired paws beside the glowing wood burner after exhilarating walks along the Northumberland coast. This four-bedroom, dog-welcoming cottage in Bamburgh is a holiday home for all seasons. Sleeping eight guests, it also includes an enclosed courtyard where you and your four-legged friend can unwind in the sea air together after days on pup-friendly beaches.

Make your way inside to find you have three storeys of accommodation to spread out in and enjoy. Leave your outerwear, leads and other doggy accessories in the hall before heading into the lounge with your pal wagging his tail behind you. Light the open fire, find a film on the Smart TV and watch your contented canine doze in the cosy ambience. When mealtimes beckon, take him into the open-plan kitchen/diner with its glass bi-fold doors opening onto the courtyard. Pull these back on warm summer days to bring the outside in. Let your happy hound loll about while you prepare his dinner and everyone else’s, then call your friends and family to join you at the table. Your bedrooms are arranged across the upper floors. These include two king-size rooms and two super-king-size bedrooms that can be made up as twins instead if requested in advance. Each bedroom has the luxury of an en-suite bathroom or shower room. Carry fresh coffee from the machine out to the courtyard on fine mornings with your puppy pal behind you. Dine out here in the evenings too as he keeps you company. Parking is on-street around the village, subject to availability.

Stroll less than a mile together to the sandy beach where dogs are welcome without restriction. From here, stretch furry legs with a hike to Seahouses, 3 miles away, where you can take your canine companion on a puffin-spotting cruise with you if he is comfortable on boats.

A lovely, well equipped property perfect for a family. Parking can be a challenge and the front door opens straight onto the street which you have to be very aware of for children and a dog

We had a wonderful stay at Shearwater, lovely modern property in great condition. The location is perfect with all local amenities plus beach and castle in easy walking distance. Welcome pack including fresh milk in the fridge on arrival is a nice touch as was the dog bowl with treats and poo bags!

Beautiful cottage, immaculate and quality furnishings. Plenty seating in lounge and kitchen for large family and kitchen well stocked with equipment for cooking. All bedrooms en-suite with very comfortable beds, lovely linen and towels. We were also provided with a lovely welcome hamper.
