At a glance

  • A truly special, romantic retreat, nestled in woodland close to the charming village of Belford and Bamburgh
  • Savour the warmth of the wood burner as you watch the birds and red squirrels in the trees
  • Gaze up at the clear night skies through the telescope in the beautiful, detached garden room
Property code: OC-COQ65

Hidden among the trees on the edge of a peaceful country estate, this enchanting woodland retreat is the perfect escape for two and a faithful four-pawed companion. Tucked just 1 mile from the friendly village of Belford and within easy reach of the coast, the location offers the ideal blend of seclusion and adventure.

Inside, the cottage has a luxurious, boutique feel. Step into the lounge, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame your leafy surroundings. Light the wood burner and curl up with your furry friend on cool evenings, or open the patio doors in summer to let the woodland breeze drift through. A few steps lead up to the kitchen/diner with a second wood burner for cosy breakfasts and romantic dinners. There’s also a handy utility area and a downstairs cloakroom. Retire at the end of the day to the sumptuous king-size bedroom upstairs. Double glass doors open into a spa-like en-suite with a free-standing bath and shower for soaking tired legs after long woodland and coastal rambles. The garden is pure magic. With colourful planting, sun-soaked patios and a deck for morning coffee or evening sundowners, it's a place to simply stop and breathe. The main garden area is enclosed so your canine companion can potter safely, though the adjoining woodland and stream area should be explored on-lead. There's even a garden room with a sofa and a telescope for stargazing under dark Northumberland skies. Private parking for two cars is provided.

Pop into Belford for local produce and a cafe treat, or lace up your boots and follow the scenic 9.5-mile route to St Cuthbert’s Cave – great for curious noses to investigate. For sandy snouts and salty breezes, head to Ross Sands (4.5 miles) or the glorious stretch of Bamburgh Beach (6.5 miles), complete with its iconic castle backdrop. Alternatively, strike out along the spectacular Northumberland Coast Path and give Rover seaside walkies to remember.

To describe Pine Cone Hideaway as a holiday cottage does it something of an injustice because every little detail has been so well thought out its like being a guest in someones home-its very difficult to come up with any suggestions for improvements. The owners are so gracious and generous not least with their welcome package but with their encourRead moreagement to make full use of the cottage - there are helpful notes and recommendations throughout. The only watch point I would give anyone who is arriving for the first time is to reverse in to the parking area because it can be a little tricky being seen by oncoming motorists if you reverse out. The cottage was perfect for a relaxing few days and exploring Northumberland. Unfortunately due to availability we could only stay 3 nights. Everything was immaculate and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the Read moreensuite modern, with a powerful shower. We loved the garden with various places to sit. Lovely location for visiting many attractions with beautiful views to the sea and Holy Island. The garden was beautiful although becoming rather overgrown so it was rather tricky to make our way to the fabulous garden room! Excellent welcome hamper too. This place is amazing! There are so many different aspects to it which, individually, would make it a wonderful place to stay, but to have them all in one property is perfection. The bed was incredibly comfy, the ensuite was beautifully decorated, the kitchen was well appointed and the living room was so relaxing with amazing views into the attacheRead mored forest. Any one of these would be enough for a great holiday. However, the real wow factor is the outdoor space. The tiered garden was fabulous, with many different seating areas, and topped of with the garden room at the top of the plot. The views from here are superb. I am running out suitable adjectives to describe this place. Suffice to say, we will be back as soon as we can. Thanks to our hosts for allowing us to stay here and being so responsive. P.S. our dog loved it too! Hide

A lovely well appointed cottage with all the 'mod cons', furnished as if it belonged to you. Welcome basket was a treat with lots of goodies as well as the essentials. Had a great week with unusually warm/dry weather (remote control velux windows were a saviour) Will definitely return. as an when time allows.
