Explore the magnificent Northumberland National Park from this dog-friendly hideaway in Thropton. Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom, single-storey, wood-clad cottage, which is 2.5 miles from Rothbury, captures commanding views out across the picturesque Coquet Valley. Enjoy quality canine time with your best furry friend out in the sunny garden or while basking beside the crackling wood burner.

Return from long walks to clean muddy paws and head inside to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with your chum at your heel. This exceptionally stylish space has a Scandinavian style, complete with a modern wood burner to light on chilly days. Open the doors to the garden on fine days and watch your pet as he saunters outside. Absorb the astounding views from the comfort of the lounge space, where you can also enjoy a gripping boxset or lively holiday game. Whip up tasty meals with Northumberland produce in the chic kitchen area, then sit down to eat at the dining table. Feed your furry friend in the kitchen or utility room, where you can also settle him for the night. The lovely bedrooms include a king-size room with a private office and en-suite shower room, plus a double bedroom and a cosy twin. The family bathroom has both a shower and a bath to ensure you have a choice. Spill out into the gorgeous, lawned garden to throw a ball for your four-pawed pal. Dine al fresco as you gaze out across the scenic Northumberland countryside. There is off-road parking for three cars.

Wander the beautiful gardens and wider leafy grounds at the National Trust’s Cragside, 4 miles away. Head 5.5 miles to the national park to follow scenic footpaths through the Simonside Hills together. Plan a day trip to the dramatic coast and pup-welcoming Alnmouth Beach, 18.5 miles away.

This was such a beautiful cottage and one of the best places we have ever stayed at, and it had everything you could possibly need. This was a truly fabulous cottage. Homely, well equipped and with the most incredible views. The garden and wood behind are a dog's dream and the amount of walks in the immediate area a joy.

This is a lovely cottage in Thropton high up on a hill with wonderful views. Its near the town of Rothbury so close to Cragside. The coast is only a short distance too. The surrounding hills are wonderful for walking and there is a local golf course. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable after long days out. Very quiet and almost isolated.

Lovely well-equipped cottage, ,with beautiful views in an excellent position to explore the Coquet Valley. Good, enclosed garden which our dog loved. Walk directly from the back of the garden onto the surrounding moors.

Our family had an absolutely wonderful time at Wood Cottage. The view from the property is magical; the layout of the property is so well thought out, the kitchen equipped with anything you could possibly need, and the decor just feels like "home". The welcome pack was also possibly the most generous we've ever been gifted, thank you!

My husband and I are always busy and we needed to have a weekend of peace and quiet to rejuvenate. Wow! we could see from the website that the Wood Cottage had great views but nothing prepared us for the absolutely amazing views here. The cottage is so homely and comfortable and it is just other worldly sitting gazing out of the huge glass windows Read moreto the valley below and on to the Cheviot Hills. We would thoroughly recommend staying here. The shops, cafes and restaurants of Rothbury are only 8-10 ins drive away as well as the beautiful riverside walk. We would definately return here in the future. Hide
