Ideal for dog-loving families and larger groups, this impressive home sits in the friendly village of Acklington. The five-bedroom property is around 0.5 miles from a popular local pub where you can pop for pints and meals. Treat everyone to a walk-and-lick outing to the local ice cream parlour (1.5 miles), following the River Coquet as you go, or drive to the lively seaside town of Amble (4 miles) for fresh sea air, harbour views and plenty of places to grab a bite.

The house has a bright, modern feel throughout, with spacious rooms designed for bigger groups to spread out. Downstairs, there’s a sociable kitchen/diner with a large table for group meals, plus patio doors that open straight out into the east-facing garden – great for dogs who love a gentle morning sniff outside. The lounge is a comfy, light-filled space with bi-fold doors to the garden. There is also a handy ground-floor WC and a utility room with garage access. Five bedrooms are spread across the first and second floors: the super-king-size has an en-suite shower room, Smart TV and speaker; a king-size also has an en-suite and Smart tech. There are two twin rooms with Smart TVs and speakers, and a final twin with zip-and-link beds that can form a super-king-size on request. These three bedrooms share a family bathroom upstairs. Outside, dogs and children can play safely in the enclosed garden, which has a lawn and a patio with a large rattan dining set beneath a pergola. There is private parking for two cars at the front.

There’s plenty to do nearby – Warkworth (3 miles) has a high street framed by a 12th-century church and a magnificent castle, artisan shops to explore and pretty riverside walks. For energetic pups, join the Northumberland Coast Path (4 miles) for excellent dog walks towards more remote stretches of shoreline.

Just returned from a fabulous weekend trip to celebrate our Dad's 80th birthday at Fern House, nr Amble. There were x2 family of 4's, our parents & 2 dogs & have to say we were completely blown away by this fabulous, high end house. Every little detail has been carefully thought of & catered for. Decor & equipment are exceptional & the whole houRead morese has been finished to a very high (wow) standard. Communication with the lovely Lisa was perfect & absolutely cannot fault her kindness & generosity. The welcome pack on arrival was unbelievable - the scones are to die for & there was quite the fight between all 10 of us!! Really nice touch with the mini welcome pack for the dogs, really thoughtful & not often seen in rental properties. Garden was absolutely beautiful & we were lucky enough to sit out in the garden under the canopy/pergola for 2 of the days we were there. The (adult) kids loved the cinema room & made good use of that. The bedrooms were huge & very tastefully decorated. Everyone commented on how comfy the beds were. Plenty of hanging & storage space in all the bedrooms. En-suite's were stunning & the family bathroom was absolutely huge & of a v high standard. Really nice touch having high end toiletries in all the bathrooms & quality soft furnishings provided. There were 10 of us staying in Fern House & it felt really spacious with nobody ontop of each other. Absolutely everything has been thought of in this stunning 5 bedroom property & truthfully cannot think of a single negative. As for the surrounding area - there's plenty to do & see. A visit to Morwick Ice Cream Farm is highly recommended if you're an ice cream lover. Druridge Bay is perfect if you want an unspoiled beach or just fancy a walk around the country park & lake with an extensive visitor centre/cafe. The lovely Amble is 5 mins away as is the quaint village of Warkworth, both are a must visit Alnwick is definitely worth visiting & Bamburgh, Seahouses & Craster are within about a 30-45 min drive away. Basically this gorgeous house is in a perfect location for exploring Northumberland. We would definitely consider returning to Fern House & I promise if you are lucky enough to rent this gorgeous house, you will not be disappointed. Hide

Incredible! We had the most luxurious, comfortable, effortless, peaceful, relaxing holiday. The place is outstanding. Spotlessly clean and kitted out with everything you need. The cinema room is a particular high point. The host is very communicative, friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

A great find. The house was super and suited us well as two families enjoying a holiday together. There was plenty of space, it felt well maintained and lots of very thoughtful touches e.g. nightlights in the main hallways and children's bedroom. The cinema room felt like a special treat. Everything was well maintained and the standard excellent.

We look to rent a house each summer for all our family both in the UK and France to meet up. Two grand parents , two children and their partners, two grandchildren and Angus the dog descended on Acclington and Fern House for a seven day holiday. The house is a new build in a small estate of similar properties surrounded by the village and open farRead morem land. It is a beautiful property and located in a great position to visit local villages and towns. In addition the A1 is on head to go further North eg Bamburgh and Holy Island. Fern House is very well equipped and has a great family kitchen and lounge, together with large bedrooms and at the top of the house a cinema room. The owners are very amiable and phoned us on our way to the area to say the house was ready for occupation prior to the 4 pm deadline which was very nice . We had a fabulous week with a wonderful base being Fern House. Would recommend it to anyone. Hide
