For a laid-back coastal escape in Northumberland with your four-legged friends, stay at this welcoming home overlooking the magnificent Bamburgh Castle and sea. It’s around 1.5 miles from the village, with easy access to wide sandy shores perfect for zoomies and ball chasing. Keen hikers (and adventurous pups!) can join the Northumberland Coast Path at various points along the shore, so you certainly won’t be short of excellent dog-walking opportunities. Two bedrooms mean it’s perfect for couples and small groups of family and friends.
This elegant home has an attractive stone exterior and a reverse-level layout inside. On the ground floor are two lovely bedrooms: a king-size room and a super-king-size zip-and-link that can become twins if needed. The second room has a TV – great for kids or extra relaxation time. You’ll also have a contemporary bathroom on this level, along with a useful utility room. Head upstairs to find the open-plan living area, where you and your pets can unwind together – there’s cosy seating, a TV and a wood burner-effect gas fire for tired dogs to doze next to. The kitchen and dining area make sociable mealtimes a breeze, and from here, you can step straight out to the balcony, which enjoys far-reaching views. Outside, your pets can sniff around in the fully enclosed grassy garden while you dine in the fresh air. There is private parking for two cars.
Nearby, Seahouses (4 miles) is lovely for harbour strolls and boat trips, where you may be lucky enough to spot seals or dolphins. You can admire Holy Island from the mainland, or head 12.5 miles to the causeway to get a closer look (tide times permitting). The traditional market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (18.5 miles) has plenty to offer the curious visitor, for if you fancy a trip further afield.
