Sitting on the main street in pretty Warkworth, tucked within one of the loops of the River Coque, this charming 18th-century home makes a wonderful base for a holiday with your four-legged friends. Within 200 metres, you’ve got friendly pubs, a lovely art gallery and gift shops to wander around. The local beach, which is dog-friendly all year round, is an easy 1-mile stroll along the riverbank. Amble’s bustling harbour, weekend market and seafood spots are a similar distance. With space for five guests and room for two dogs, it’s a lovely spot for families, friends or couples.

Inside, the cosy lounge centres around an impressive original inglenook fireplace with a wood burner – an obvious snooze spot for tired canines. One step leads down into the bright and spacious kitchen, where the dining table seats six for slow breakfasts or relaxed suppers. Upstairs, the king-size main bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and there’s another king-size room plus a single, with a family bathroom that has a cast-iron bath alongside a separate shower. Outside, dogs can potter safely in the enclosed garden, with a courtyard dining area and a pretty lawn. There’s a handy entry via the rear garden gate – perfect for sandy paws. While you can’t park directly outside, you’ll find parking opposite the cottage or in the village square (150 metres).

When you’re ready to explore, the dog-friendly Druridge Bay (8.5 miles) offers mile after mile of open sandy shoreline with plenty of space for zoomies, while Alnmouth (4 miles) is known for its sweeping beach and colourful village backdrop. In the market town of Alnwick (7.5 miles), browse independent shops and cafes – many with outdoor seating where dogs can join you. Embleton (11.5 miles) has peaceful dunes and sea views, and Beadnell (17 miles) boasts a sheltered bay for paddling. If you prefer countryside rambles to sea air, Rothbury (17.5 miles) delivers a change of scenery with riverside walks, gentle village trails and access into the wider landscape of Northumberland National Park.

A very comfortable property with everything we needed for a very relaxing week. The garden was perfect for our dogs. Warkworth is a beautiful village with some lovely pubs and restaurants and Amble is close by for supermarkets and fantastic fish restaurants. A great place to stay for exploring the Northumberland coast.

This is a spacious, well-equipped, warm and homely cottage with a lovely garden (unfortunately covered in snow and ice for most of our stay!) The cottage is on the busy main road through the village but frankly, this was barely noticeable from inside and it does mean you are just a stone's throw from all of the excellent pubs and eateries in WarkwoRead morerth. The cottage support team were very accessible and helpful when a couple of minor issues cropped up. Hide

This cottage is very comfortable, well equipped with a beautiful garden. It is suitable for families of all ages including dogs. It is close to all amenities in the village and within easy walking distance of Warkworth beach and Amble. This has been my second stay at the cottage and I have no hesitation about a return visit.

House is in good location and we enjoyed sitting in sun in garden. Garden getting overgrown with weeds , which is a shame as can see was a lovely garden.

We had a lovely stay very well equipped only downside was the pillows could do to upgrade them and also think about putting up a shelf for toiletries in the en-suite bathroom

Excellent cottage in an excellent village. Only concern was that it was on a very busy main road and alot of traffic noise when sat in the living room or in the front bedroom. Also had to park further down in the village when there were no spaces opposite the house. Would return to warkworth but to a quieter location and easier parki g. Also no logRead more starter pack provided as stated in the arrival information sent in advance of the stay. I know it ssys it finishes in april but i would have assumed last day of april. I know we had good weather but the evenings got cold. A downstairs toilet would be an advantage too - especially those with elderly members of their family. Apart from above great cottage in a excellent village - will be back soon. Hide
