Leave coats and leads in the hallway before strolling through to the lounge/diner, which offers beautiful rural views and a crackling wood burner – perfect for curling up, with your pup at your feet, after a day outdoors. There’s a dining table for two and a Smart TV, ready and waiting for you to stream your favourite shows. The compact kitchen has everything for easy home cooking, including an oven, hob, fridge and microwave, and a washer/dryer that is bound to come in handy after muddy walks. At bedtime, settle your mutts and head to the king-size bedroom, where pale colours and soothing textures create a restful atmosphere. Ample storage is provided, and for relaxing soaks or refreshing showers there’s a pretty bathroom with a shower over the bath just along the hall. The charming village of Errol has a pub, shop and cafe, and you can stroll to the Sunday market and try the fruit-based tipples at the local winery. The village is located between Perth (10 miles) and Dundee (14 miles), surrounded by stunning scenery with a variety of walks, from moorland strolls to hilly hikes.

We loved staying at Southbank Cottage and exploring the beautiful countryside of Perthshire and the Kingdom of Fife. The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable and being able to look across the River Tay from the cottage was delightful. Highly recommended and would stay again in a heartbeat.
