Surrounded by rolling countryside on the fringes of Totnes and the South Devon National Landscape, there’s no shortage of wonderful walks to explore with your canine companion from the doorstep of this cosy shepherd’s hut.
Lead the way through private meadow and up the grassy hill (approximately 100 metres), where you are welcomed into this picturesque retreat featuring three separate shepherd’s huts. Wash off a long day on the local trails in the first hut containing the washing facilities before heading through the gated entrance to the second hut to find the cooking and dining area, the perfect spot to prepare some tasty treats for your pup. The third hut offers a cosy lounge and sleeping space, boasting comfy armchairs, a double bed and a roaring wood burner; there’s plenty of room for your pup to curl up at your feet. You’ll have a ball exploring the surrounding meadow and nuzzling noses with the resident hens, goats, and two miniature donkeys. There is private parking for two cars. Please note that there is no TV or Wi-Fi, and dogs must be kept on the lead outside, apart from in the designated dog area.
This scenic location within the South Devon countryside is a haven for keen outdoor explorers and four-pawed pals alike, with a myriad of walks beginning from the doorstep. Jump aboard a heritage steam train with your canine companion at the award-winning South Devon Railway, 7 miles away, to admire the tail-wagging scenery along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh (10 miles) and Totnes (3.5 miles). On the outskirts of Brixham, 13 miles away, treat your pup to an afternoon of getting their paws sandy at St Mary's Bay, which is dog friendly all year round, found just off the South West Coast Path.
