Bring man’s best friend along for a romantic retreat with your loved one, staying in this cosy cottage at the heart of Whitby. Two guests and two pups are invited, so dog parents never have to leave their beloved companions behind when planning a stay on the Yorkshire Coast. A world of wag-worthy adventures awaits right on the doorstep, whether you’re exploring Whitby town or venturing further afield into the North York Moors National Park.
Set in an elevated position above the town, this three-storey holiday home offers wonderful views and the chance for stargazing in the third-floor snug. On the main floor, an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner provides a welcoming space for relaxation, with Fido and Rover gently snoozing at your feet. Cook up something tasty in the well-equipped kitchen – saving a scrap or two for your furry friends – before dining together with your favourite tipple. At bedtime, leave your dogs to rest peacefully downstairs as you head up to the king-size bedroom, complete with an en-suite bathroom featuring a luxurious sunken bath. Outside, a small, shared courtyard with a bistro set is perfect for sipping a drink while your pups stretch their legs.
There’s plenty of opportunity to exercise your dogs in the surrounding area. Wander to Tate Hill Beach (0.5 miles) where Rover can run free off the lead, or climb the town’s famous 199 steps to discover Whitby Abbey (0.5 miles). For longer walkies, follow the River Esk to the Larpool Viaduct (1.5 miles) and beyond into the Moors. Or explore the pretty villages of Grosmont (6.5 miles) and Glaisdale (9.5 miles), each set within this magnificent National Park.
