Half a mile from Fistral Beach, this fabulous bolthole boasts a choice of family-friendly social spaces plus coveted private parking.
The stone finish of this terraced cottage makes a fine first impression. Inside, the hallway leads into the first of two social spaces: a stylish lounge/diner with a bay window and wooden floors. Unwind on soft seating before a Smart TV; if the temperature drops the dogs can doze by the open fire. Enjoy home-cooked meals at the dining suite which sits alongside patio doors onto a decked terrace; for less-formal refreshments there’s a breakfast bar in the kitchen. Settle the dogs in their beds here for the night and head up to the first floor to find a family bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate corner shower, plus a king-size bedroom and a twin room ideal for children. If the youngsters want to hang-out home-style, another lounge on the second floor looks across the rooftops to the Atlantic and comes complete with a Smart TV, seating and selection of board games. For sniffs of sea air and al fresco dining, step through those doors from the dining area onto a raised decking area. Park on the private driveway and you can unpack and explore at your own pace.
Famous for its beautiful beaches – including surfing favourite Fistral – Newquay has cafes, pubs and restaurants which welcome four-legged friends all year round. If your pups prefer sand-free paws, take a walk around the Pentire Headland, where the ocean views are always dramatic. For fun further afield, chug through the Cornish countryside on a steam train from Lappa Valley (6 miles); the 35-acre site includes a large field where pets can play off-lead. Salty sea dogs are also welcomed by the Newquay Sea Safaris company – water and treats will keep them happy while you watch for seals and dolphins.
