Brimming with country charm, this red-brick cottage in rural Kent is a haven for couples seeking tranquillity and fresh-air adventures with their faithful hound in tow. Nestled in the heart of 1066 Country, the garden is fully enclosed, allowing your furry friend to explore in safety.

Step into the light and bright entrance hall, where there’s plenty of room to leave muddy boots and hang up leads after a morning ramble. The inviting lounge is a wonderful spot to curl up by the crackling wood burner with your canine chum at your feet. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped for cooking with local produce, and on sunny days, you can open the patio doors to let the breeze drift in. A separate farmhouse-style dining room offers space to gather for a relaxed evening meal or to plan the next day’s adventures. A sleek family bathroom ensures you’ll start each new adventure feeling refreshed. When it’s time to rest, two tranquil bedrooms – a king-size and a double – provide inviting hideaways for a peaceful night’s sleep after a day of exploring. The enclosed garden is a safe setting for your four-legged explorer to roam while you enjoy an al fresco dinner on the patio. There’s also private parking for two cars, making this a wonderfully convenient base.

Head out for a day trip to Bodiam Castle (12 miles) and let your loyal companion sniff out the historic grounds as you soak up the views. Closer to home, the picturesque village of Frittenden (2 miles) is a delight, with a dog-friendly pub that hosts live music and festivals. There’s also a Sunday-night pizza van. Pop over to Northiam’s cafe, where scenic outdoor seating sits right beside Bodiam Boating Station. From here, you can hop aboard a boat trip to Rye. For longer walks, the award-winning Bedgebury Pinetum and Forest (10 miles) is a paradise of woodland trails, sparkling lakes, and gardens that are perfect for a day of wandering, tail-wagging, and cafe pit stops. Cottage is very nice and clean, could do with a few more utensils in the kitchen, and some of the potholes in the drive could do with some attention, the back garden is ok for your dog, the tv is a bit awkward could only get bbc channels and Channel 4.

Needs a TV that works. Quite cold in this weather. Absolutely dreadful pot holes leading up the driveway. Impossible to ignore. Certainly missing the welcoming niceties.

We had a wonderful week in this gorgeous cottage. The decor and layout was beautiful, and the fully enclosed garden was a real plus for our dog. The cottage was a perfect location for meeting friends and family across Kent and East Sussex. The train station was a short drive away which we used for visits to London and Sevenoaks. The owners were verRead morey welcoming and provided lots of helpful information on local spots to visit. Hide

We had a lovely week at Stable Cottage. We loved the decor of the cottage and colour scheme. The cottage is very secure on the owner's land, the garden is a good size and enclosed - even for small dogs. We used Staplehurst train station to go into London for the day (50 mins) and to Folkestone on another day (40 mins). We also had lovely days out aRead moret Royal Tunbridge Wells, Mote Park in Maidstone, Bedgebury Pinetum and Headcorn Aerodrome. Food wise, there are lots of nice pubs and cafes in the area, our favourites were Hartley Coffee House and The Potting Shed. Thank you Sarah and family! Hide
