Get the whole gang together at this impressive 19th-century slate cottage sitting at the foot of Wansfell Pike in the charming town of Ambleside. Sleeping five people across three bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, this is a perfect accommodation choice for families or groups of friends who want to discover the beauty of Cumbria with their pups by their side. Head off to Waterhead Pier to take a cruise on Lake Windermere with your pups, and in the evening, come home to enjoy a casual al fresco dinner on the cottage's pretty garden terrace.
Park in your private parking spot and make a beeline for your gorgeous period cottage. Step inside and take a moment to make yourself at home by the wood burner in the living room, before heading to the country-style kitchen to rustle up some dinner for your loved ones. Share a meal together at the traditional farmhouse table in the dining room and then head outside to enjoy a glass of wine in the lovely, insulated summerhouse in a shared enclosed garden. At the end of the day, make your way upstairs and you'll find a delightful king-size bedroom, as well as a smart family bathroom with a shower over the bath. On the second floor, you'll find two beautifully styled bedrooms - a twin and a double. Both offer fabulous views over the garden and surrounding fells. In the morning, enjoy a coffee in the summerhouse and then head straight onto the footpath up to Wansfell via the garden gate.
Take your pups on a short woodland trek to Stock Ghyll Force (1 mile) to see the dramatic double-drop waterfall. Alternatively, take a scenic stroll through the woodland garden at Stagshaw Gardens (1.5 miles). The camellias and azaleas are wonderful. Further afield, stop off for a coffee at the dog-friendly cafe at Dove Cottage (4.5 miles), the former home of William Wordsworth.
