This charming cottage is in the Yorkshire village of West Witton. Sleeping three humans and two hounds, the tranquil bolthole makes a lovely romantic retreat or base for a small family. Enjoy walkies from the village to nearby beauty spots such as Penhill Beacon and Aysgarth Falls, followed by a well-earned drink in the village pub.
The three-storey, terraced cottage beautifully blends period features, such as beamed ceilings, with contemporary decor and creature comforts. At the heart of the home is an inviting lounge/diner with cosy underfloor heating which the hounds will adore. Relax in here, watching a film on the Smart TV as you warm your toes by the wood burner, or sharing an evening meal at the dining table. The separate kitchen has been cleverly configured to include all the essentials for a self-catering holiday. Upstairs, a super-king-size bedroom awaits, boasting far-reaching views across the Wensleydale landscape. Also on this floor is a refreshing shower room. Tucked away on the second floor is a single bedroom with characterful low beams (please note, this room has restricted head height). Outside, you and the pups can soak up the sunshine in the enclosed patio garden, where you’ll find furniture for al fresco dining and magnificent countryside views. The cottage has on-street parking, subject to availability.
The ancient market town of Leyburn is just 4 miles away and has a good selection of independent shops and eateries, many of which welcome four-pawed visitors. The town hosts a regular farmers’ market, where you can pick up delicious local produce. Leyburn is the starting point for several popular walking trails, including along the River Ure and to the summit of Leyburn Shawl. For history enthusiasts, a visit to the atmospheric ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, 8.5 miles away, is a must.
