Paws and people alike are offered a warm welcome in this charming country cottage - a fantastic place to get away with your nearest and dearest, including man's best friend. Designed with couples or solo travellers in mind, this pretty property hosts smaller packs, sleeping two guests and one adventure-seeking pup. It's set right on the edge of the Cranborne Chase, a vast designated National Landscape with more walkies, wildlife and stunning scenery than your four-pawed pal can shake a tail at. Explore it all from your beautiful base, before coming home to enjoy a peaceful night resting in the orchard or getting cosy indoors.

Put your best paw forward and step inside to discover a light, bright abode with traditional English charm and character. The open-plan living area features a cosy lounge that blends easily into a kitchen/diner. Get cosy on the sofa or armchair while Fido curls up and claims the best spot in front of the warming wood burner. You can leave your dog to snooze here as you head off to bed. A king-size bedroom and bathroom can both be found here on the ground floor. Outside, along with private parking for two cars, the garden consists of a large grassy lawn that forms part of the surrounding orchard. While this area is unenclosed, a designated dog field just a tennis ball's throw away offers the perfect place for a final leg stretch before bed.

Positioned on the edge of Wiltshire and Somerset, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to countryside exploration. Visit the local town of Mere (3.5 miles) to start your adventure, following country lanes and winding footpaths out of town and into Cranborne Chase. Take a day trip to Stourhead (3.5 miles), a National Trust attraction with world-famous landscaped gardens that welcome dogs all year round.

We had a wonderfully cosy and comfortable stay at the lodge for four evenings. Tim and Rosie were exceptionally helpful and accommodating throughout our holiday, making us feel truly welcome. The wood burner was a fantastic feature, keeping both us and our dog warm and relaxed during the evenings we chose to stay in. With the lodge being closRead moree to the borders of several counties in the West Country, theres no shortage of things to see and do nearby. Youll never be stuck for ideas for days out, whether youre after countryside walks, local attractions, or charming towns to explore. Hide
