  • The perfect base for couples planning adventures across Bath’s historic city centre
Property code: OC-BHR49

This charming cottage is in the historic city of Bath. Sleeping two guests and one waggy-tailed companion, it’s the ideal base for couples seeking a romantic getaway. The cottage is in the desirable district of Widcombe, which boasts a great range of paw-friendly eateries. When it comes to walkies, both the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal are on your doorstop.

The three-storey terraced cottage is full of character, carefully combining period features with contemporary decor and design. On the ground floor you’ll find a country-style kitchen/diner, where you can whip up delicious dinners for two to share at the dining table. With hard floors and direct access to the outside area, this room is a good place for Rover to hang out. A winding, stone staircase leads to the first floor and the cosy lounge, which has a plump sofa bed set in front of a TV. The sofa bed can accommodate a further two guests if required. From here, head up to the stylish super-king-size bedroom on the top floor for a good night’s sleep. Rounding off the accommodation is an en-suite shower room. Outside, relax in the cute courtyard garden, sipping a glass of wine or cooking some food on the BBQ. Private parking is available for one car.

From Widcombe, a 0.5-mile walk across Halfpenny Bridge brings you to Bath’s city centre. Here, you and the pup can enjoy a walk amongst the honey-coloured buildings, popping into the independent shops and boutiques. Be sure to take in the famous sights, such as the Royal Crescent and The Circus, or perhaps head over to the Skyline Walk to enjoy panoramic views across the city. Further afield, join the long-distance Cotswold Way, or take a trip to the chocolate-box village of Castle Combe (13 miles).

An absolute gem of a house which suited us all very well (3 adults & 3 dogs). In fact within 20 minutes of arriving, we had booked it again! Very grateful for the careful directions to the house & rear parking space. Had been a bit worried when some previous reviews mentioned parking concerns but I managed to get my large SUV into it (& around the Read moretight bends). Easy to find the steps down to the courtyard & back door. Dogs stayed downstairs, kitchen was great & had everything we needed. Gorgeous stone spiral staircase up to first floor sitting room/sofa bed & wc then up again to the bedroom & shower room. Each room was well furnished, comfortable & well thought through, weve had a very happy stay. Thank you. Hide
