This charming cottage is in the historic city of Bath. Sleeping two guests and one waggy-tailed companion, it’s the ideal base for couples seeking a romantic getaway. The cottage is in the desirable district of Widcombe, which boasts a great range of paw-friendly eateries. When it comes to walkies, both the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal are on your doorstop.
The three-storey terraced cottage is full of character, carefully combining period features with contemporary decor and design. On the ground floor you’ll find a country-style kitchen/diner, where you can whip up delicious dinners for two to share at the dining table. With hard floors and direct access to the outside area, this room is a good place for Rover to hang out. A winding, stone staircase leads to the first floor and the cosy lounge, which has a plump sofa bed set in front of a TV. The sofa bed can accommodate a further two guests if required. From here, head up to the stylish super-king-size bedroom on the top floor for a good night’s sleep. Rounding off the accommodation is an en-suite shower room. Outside, relax in the cute courtyard garden, sipping a glass of wine or cooking some food on the BBQ. Private parking is available for one car.
From Widcombe, a 0.5-mile walk across Halfpenny Bridge brings you to Bath’s city centre. Here, you and the pup can enjoy a walk amongst the honey-coloured buildings, popping into the independent shops and boutiques. Be sure to take in the famous sights, such as the Royal Crescent and The Circus, or perhaps head over to the Skyline Walk to enjoy panoramic views across the city. Further afield, join the long-distance Cotswold Way, or take a trip to the chocolate-box village of Castle Combe (13 miles).
