Nestled in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, this postcard-perfect cottage is the perfect base for keen outdoor explorers and four-pawed pals to explore the tail-wagging landscapes Powys and Herefordshire have to offer.
You’ll discover plenty of rustic charm in the cosy lounge off the entrance hallway; the wood burner will keep toes and paws toasty from sunrise to sunset. The adjoining dining room is an ideal spot to plan tomorrow’s walkies with your four-legged friend curled up at your feet. Flooded with sunlight from the patio doors leading to the garden, the contemporary kitchen is bursting with sophistication, equipped with everything you need to whip up some tasty treats. Upstairs, you’ll find two light and airy double bedrooms that offer a sanctuary of serenity to retreat to at the end of a long day’s exploration. Outside, the suntrap lower-level patio is the perfect spot for alfresco dining, whilst the enclosed lawn and raised patio are ideal for playful pups to run around. Please note that there is no balustrade around the raised patio area, and although there is no parking available at the cottage, there are several car parks close by.
The picturesque town of Hay-on-Wye is home to a myriad of new and second-hand bookshops, quirky local shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, along with a weekly farmers market showcasing seasonal local produce. Take the lead to the magnificent Offa’s Dyke, climb to the summit of Hay Bluff or follow the trail across the ridge of the Black Mountains to be rewarded with plenty of exciting news smells to enjoy across Talgarth common of Pen-y-Fan. Set on the banks of the River Wye, treat tired paws to a paddle at the local riverside beach, The Warren, a mile away, where you can hire a canoe or relax and enjoy the wildlife.
