A dog-friendly cottage boasting pretty views over the River Fowey from the upstairs rooms, you can’t beat this sweet accommodation for a Cornish trip. It’s tucked down one of Fowey’s charming narrow streets, making it a cosy hideaway for groups of six and two canine chums. Fowey is a lively harbour town on the scenic south coast, known for its historic charm, cobbled streets, boutique shops and waterfront buzz.
Access to this pretty abode is via steps from the street. Inside, the inviting living room has comfy seating for tired humans, an open fire for dozing dogs and a lovely bay window for taking in the river views. The kitchen and dining space is located at the rear and there’s a handy utility space and ground-floor WC. On the first floor are two gorgeous king-size bedrooms plus a stylish bathroom – the front bedroom has dreamy views towards Place House. The top floor is home to a third king-size room tucked beneath the eaves, complete with its own en-suite cloakroom and a desk space perfect for quiet moments. The views over Fowey’s rooftops and St Fimbarrus Church from here are a real treat. Out the front is a small terrace with bench seating, while the enclosed rear courtyard has a tap for washing sandy paws after beach trips, with a side entrance for easy access. Please note: parking is in a public car park a short trot away (300 metres).
Nearby, follow the esplanade down to the impressive St Catherine's Castle (0.5 miles), which sits impressively atop the jagged rocks. There you can join the coast path (0.5 miles) for scenic and satisfying walks. Alternatively, hop on the Bodinnick car ferry (0.5 miles) to reach must-see spots like Looe (under 12 miles). A quick boat ride across to Polruan (4 miles by road) gives you a taste of the area’s fishing heritage. Further afield, don’t miss Cornwall’s iconic Eden Project (9 miles), where dogs are allowed in many areas (but not the biomes), and Charlestown’s historic harbour (8 miles).
