For wagging tails pretty much guaranteed, stay at this pretty Welsh home in a charming corner of Snowdonia. It’s just 1 mile from the scenic Mawddach Trail – a flat, easy route that’s ideal for eager paws and feet alike, with gorgeous estuary views all the way to the coast. This traditional home has space for four human guests over two bedrooms, with two furry friends very welcome to accompany you.
This characterful detached stone house dates back to 1760 so has a charming rustic feel to it. After a good ramble, kick off muddy boots (and wipe off paws) in the handy utility boot room, before settling into the inviting lounge. Here, exposed stone walls, a crackling wood burner and cosy sofas await. Unwind with your dog snoozing at your feet while you plan the next day’s adventures. The kitchen/diner sets you up for sociable mealtimes, with a window-side dining table for relaxed breakfasts or evening feasts. Upstairs, you’ll find a spacious super-king-size bedroom (which can be set up as twins if needed) complete with a Smart TV, plus a charming double bedroom with a separate dressing room. The bathroom also has a freestanding bath for a long soak after those hilly hikes. Outside, dogs can sniff and roam safely in the enclosed garden while you fire up the BBQ, toast marshmallows around the fire pit or soak your weary bones in the wood-fired hot tub. There’s secure storage for bikes and paddleboards too, plus four private parking spaces to make life easy as pie.
At Dolgellau (2.5 miles), browse the independent shops or refuel with a hearty bowl of Welsh stew. If you’re craving that seaside fix, head 7 miles to Barmouth Beach where dogs can enjoy salty air and sandy adventures (please note, some dog restrictions apply in summer). Paddleboards packed? Glide across Llyn Tegid (20 miles) with mountain views all around – a great spot for water-loving humans and hounds.
