Set in the beautiful grounds of Ellingham Hall, 6 miles from the pretty village of Beadnell, this stunning stone cottage offers a perfect rural experience of beautiful Northumberland for families – along with your canine companions. Sleeping up to four across two light and comfortable bedrooms, you will be out enjoying long walks in the fresh air and sniffing out woodland wildlife, straight from your front door. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay stress-free, with fluffy towels provided and a handy utility room to wash muddy paws and boots.

Accessed by two steps up to the front door, you are greeted with bright spacious rooms and wooden floors throughout. The open-plan lounge/diner is light and inviting, with plush sofas to sink back and watch a film; the warming wood burner (logs provided) provides a cosy space for your four-legged friends to snooze away the day. Enjoy a hearty breakfast together, with French doors providing a rural backdrop and views of the quiet shared treehouse play area, perfect for children to let off steam. The large, enclosed expanse of lawn provides plenty of space for the pups to play while you sit out on the stone terrace with a glass of wine.

Beadnell beach (6 miles) is the perfect spot for some bucket and spade fun in the sheltered horseshoe bay. Keep an eye out for when to pop on leads during bird-breeding season. There are plenty of walks along this Heritage coast with sand dunes to explore and wear out those four-pawed feet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again albeit we were a little disappointed with the standard of cleaning on arrival (breadcrumbs on the work top and dishes still in the dishwasher which was still going when we arrived at 4.30pm). Our dog Arthur thoroughly enjoyed the garden and many treats from the man at The Hen House.
