Roam the rolling fells of the beautiful Lake District with your canine companion beside you at this lovely cottage near Chapel Stile in Langdale Valley. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom abode is ideal for a small family or couples eager to escape to a dog-friendly destination. It has an enclosed courtyard garden with panoramic views where your chum can warm his fur in the sunshine.

Enter the reverse-level hillside cottage to discover your bedrooms and bathrooms. Here you have two delightful, king-size bedrooms, one with the luxury of an en-suite shower room. One of the bedrooms has zip-and-link beds and can be arranged as small twins on request for added convenience. The family shower room is also here. Head downstairs to emerge in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Throw open the rear door so your puppy pal can step out onto the stone patio and wander down the steps to the main part of the garden. On cooler evenings, light the wood burner to create a welcoming ambience. The immaculate kitchen is well-designed for self-catering. There are two stools beside the peninsula or a table for more formal meals. Watch your chum stretch out on the rug after his meal while you pick up the remote control and see what the Smart TV has to offer. Dine outside on the glass-fronted patio as you absorb the views and he soaks up the sunshine. Parking is 100 metres away, subject to availability. Cars can hover outside for loading and unloading.

Pocket some pet treats and head 5.5 miles to Ambleside to enjoy a walk that takes you past the impressive waterfall of Stockghyll Force. Dogs are also welcome in the grounds of the National Trust’s Wray Castle, 6.5 miles away, on the shores of Windermere.

The cottage is in a great location, close to loads of walking paths, a pub and a shop. There were several days I didn't use the car :) It was well-equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I would recommend it for a couple, small family especially if you have dogs. The outside warm water tap was definitely appreciated by my two!

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It was definitely a home away from home with every detail considered. We would recommend and hopefully one day return for more beautiful walks from the door.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and loved Chapel Stile. It was well equipped with everything we needed and was comfortable, quiet and cosy. The terrace has beautiful views and gets great sunshine on a warm day! We had no issues parking and parked lower down before the hill up to the cottage. The cottage is in a great location with some loRead morevely walks from the doorstep, lots of places to visit within easy reach, and some great pubs/cafes nearby (the local pub is very friendly, The Britannia in Elterwater was a nice old school pub and Chesters by the River did brilliant cakes, bread and coffee) and you can even get the bus to Ambleside or up the hill to a lovely pub with wonderful views (Lanty Slees Stickle Barn). We would be happy to return again! Hide

So enjoyed our stay here. I didnt want to go home. The cottage is nestled on a hill right next to the church with a beautiful view. It has everything you need for a great stay. The welcome basket was also a wonderful touch. The local pub had great ales and food but getting a seat was sometimes tricky as it was very popular. More pubs only 15 Read moremins walk away. Would definitely stay again but maybe not at peak season. Hide

Undergarth Cottage was just Superb for our Family (Two adults, Two Kids and Dog). We barely left the Great Langdale Valley all week because there was so much to keep us occupied. We really enjoyed the open plan tiny living and short walk to the Wainwright pub for lovely food and local ale. Although you can't park directly outside there are spaces iRead moren front of the church and we never had issues finding somewhere. We recommend walking from the front door up and over silver howe and into Grasmere. It's only 2 miles as the crow flies and you can jump on the bus back to Chapel Stile. Hide
