Nestled in the heart of Northumberland’s peaceful countryside, the charming hamlet of Edlingham sits in a quiet spot between Alnwick and Rothbury, and is ideal for sniffing out both coast and countryside adventures. Just 400 metres from the 11th-century church and medieval castle ruins, this beautifully situated detached bungalow boasts a wonderful wood burner and a lovely enclosed garden.

Step through the accessible back entrance into a spacious utility/boot room for towelling off muddy paws and stashing leads, wellies and walking gear. Inside, the hallway flows into an airy, open-plan living space with panoramic views of the surrounding hills – keep an eye on local wildlife through the telescope while your pup curls up by the wood burner. There’s underfloor heating for extra comfort on chilly days, plus sofas and a Smart TV for cosy evenings in. The sleek, contemporary kitchen makes mealtimes a breeze, while the generous dining area invites you to eat together. When it’s time to rest, retreat to one of two bedrooms: a king-size with its own en-suite bathroom and garden views, and a lovely twin room (can be converted on request at time of booking) with Jack and Jill access to the modern shower room. The enclosed front garden is a real treat for loyal tail-waggers, with a lawn to potter around on and a patio made for dining. Gated gravel driveway parking completes the package.

Don’t miss a day trip to Cragside (9 miles), where canine chums can stretch their legs among lakes, gardens and waterfalls in the vast 1,000-acre estate. The bustling market town of Alnwick (6 miles) is packed with shops, dog-friendly pubs and places to eat. Alnmouth (10 miles) boasts sandy stretches and sand dunes rich in wildlife, while the fishing village of Craster (13 miles) is great for a seaside stroll, local arts and crafts, and the irresistible aroma of the famous kipper smokehouse.

Lovely cottage with beautiful views from the living room and garden. 10 minutes drive from Alnwick and the castle. Lots of great walks in the area and villages/towns in the area including Berwick, Lindisfarne, Seahouses, Craster, Alnmouth, the list goes on. The coastal drive is lovely. John the owner baked a couple of lovely cakes to keep the energRead morey up. The cottage was perfect for 4 adults and 2 dogs. We will be back ! Hide

Perfect cosy cottage in a stunning location surrounded by the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Very warm and friendly hosts who were on site if we needed anything but not intrusive. Would highly recommend this property and will visit again.

We had an amazing week at Quails nest, Alnwick. Stunning, cozy cottage in a perfect, peaceful location, with beautiful views and well located to visit Northumberlands sites. The cottage itself was a true 'home from home'spotlessly clean, well-equipped, warm and cosy. The hosts were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The driveway is encloRead moresed meaning we could get the dogs in and out the car with ease and a small grass lawn with low wall at the front for the odd empty. There is a well equipped utility room from the back door for boots and drying off dogs. Alnwick is a 10 min drive with everything you might need. Can highly recommend the food at the Market tavern. We went to Holy Island and Craigside house, both worth a visit. Cannot recommend enough and we will definitely be booking again!" Hide

We had a great time in a lovely cottage in a fabulous area of the country. There was plenty of quality equipment and the underfloor heating was a welcome bonus. John's cake as part of the welcome pack was delicious and Rosie popped in to say hello.
