Perfect for dog-friendly trips, this dainty retreat is one of three renovated shepherd’s huts tucked away in the heart of Mid Wales. It’s in a peaceful spot at the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and just 150 metres from the pet-friendly ruins of Castell Bronllys. This luxurious bolthole is just the spot for dog-loving couples looking to explore glorious countryside and ancient landmarks, plus peaceful pub gardens and welcoming market towns.
On arrival at this sweet little hut, four steps take you up into a lovely open space with wooden floors, underfloor heating and a cosy curved ceiling. There’s a snug lounge area with a wood burner for doggie snoozes, a dining table for two and a neat kitchen tucked off to the side. Your comfortable sleeping area is screened off for privacy and features a king-size bed with a Smart TV. At the foot of the bed sits a twin copper bath so you can enjoy the countryside views through the French doors. There’s also a stylish shower room for freshening up after muddy walks. Outside, the private garden area is a real treat for dogs and humans alike, with two sets of steps leading to a patio with a fire pit/BBQ, plenty of seating, and an outdoor shower for post-walk rinses. Off-road parking is available for two cars.
Nearby, you’ll find essentials in the village of Bronllys (0.5 miles), which has a pub, shop and cafe. For a little more buzz, head to Talgarth (1 mile), where the historic watermill and riverside walks are sure to be a hit with both two-legged and four-legged adventurers. Hay-on-Wye (7.5 miles) and Brecon (8 miles) are fab for day trips and dog-friendly exploring, as are Llangorse Lake and the leafy trails around Pwll y Wrach waterfall (both within 10 miles).
